Why not swaddle your baby with an Aden and Anais?

Anais1_3Aden and Anais swaddling blankets are the latest and most popular swaddling blanket around. Aden and Anais is a company created by two Australian women (who moved to the US 10 years ago). They specialize in producing swaddling blankets for babies. They come in packs of four for $44. The muslin wraps are truly the only things that Australian mothers wrap their babies in. They are lightweight and help to regulate the baby’s temperature. The fabric is extremely soft, yet light and warm, and large (47" by 47"). Additionally these wraps have multiple purposes; as a stroller cover, swaddler, blanket, burping cloth. There are a variety of patterns to choose from. Swaddling is important for a variety of reasons:

  1. Swaddled babies sleep better – swaddled babies are proved to have a more consistent sleeping schedule and wake less frequently. They also experience twice as much dream sleep which, is extremely important for brain development.
  2. Reduced incidence of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) – swaddled babies that sleep on their back are less susceptible to SIDS, than those not swaddled.
  3. Reduces colic and fussiness in baby – the action of being tightly bound gives the illusion of the womb to the baby. It prevents over stimulation and the babies are able to self soothe if their hands are swaddled near their face.
  4. Keeps baby warm – babies are inefficient in regulating their own temperature – swaddling assists in keeping their bodies at a constant temperature.
  5. Assists breastfeeding – a baby who is swaddled while being breastfed will remain stiller, calmer and it will be more comfortable and easy for both mother and baby.

Celebrity mothers that are fans of Aden and Anais are Marcia Cross, Tori Spelling and Nina Garcia.

Aden and Anais swaddlers are available in the US, Australia, Canada, Japan and Saudi Arabia. Find your store here.
