Ruby Reynolds makes another Good Day LA appearance

Ruby_cbbAlthough Jillian Barberie Reynold‘s maternity leave came to an end this morning as she marked her return to the set of Good Day LA, her job of co-host comes with certain perks — like the ability to chat live, on-air with husband Grant Reynolds and their 2-month-old daughter Ruby Raven.  The segment was kept secret by the show producers and Grant, who worked together to surprise Jillian.  Ruby is a very mellow baby, as is made evident in this video, leading Jillian — who at one time famously claimed that she would never have children — to sing a different tune entirely.

I want another one and I want it stat!  Isn’t it funny, for me?  I just loved having her.  She’s the easiest baby in the world.      

The baby was even unfazed by her mom’s drastically different appearance yesterday as Jillian, 40, returned to her other job presenting weather conditions for Fox NFL Sunday.

For months I had no makeup on, I had my hair in a ponytail, I had my extensions out, and she was like ‘You’re my mommy!’  So yesterday I get all dolled up for the NFL, and she was like, ‘Who the hell are you?  Who’s this lady and where’s the nanny? ‘ But she loved the makeup and hair.  She kept smiling … she’s going to be a mommy’s girl. 

If Ruby’s love of makeup and hair extensions continues into her formative years, Jillian joked that she would put the hobby to good use, telling the audience that "if she’s cute, I’m putting her into modeling." 

You better believe it!  So I can retire!

Ruby is the first child for the couple, who were married in July 2006.

Jillian Barberie Reynolds talks about Ruby Raven and more

Skating with Celebrities alum Jillian Barberie Reynolds, 40, had famously asserted that she would never have kids, but now she cannot imagine life without her 3-week-old daughter Ruby Raven with husband Grant. The Good Day L.A. host talked to OK! about motherhood, how her labor was induced and which Hollywood tyke she hopes Ruby will end up dating. Watch a video of the photo shoot here.

On holding Ruby for the first time: "Iwas sobbing like a baby. I was adopted and my birth mom didn’t get achance to hold me for very long. It was very emotional." Grant adds, "It was surreal. We were in awe. We said, ‘Oh my gosh – this is what we’ve been waiting for.’"

On the name: "Grant chose Raven and I chose Ruby. Rod Stewart has a daughter named Ruby with supermodel Kelly Emberg, who I grew up adoring."

On Ruby’s first night home: "Thefirst thing we did when we got home from the hospital was watchEntourage with her nursing on me. She took to breastfeeding 20 minutesafter I gave birth. I’m breastfeeding some nights from 2 to 3:30 a.m.,other nights from 1 to 1:45 a.m. I’m not exhausted at all."

On Ruby’s personality: "She’s mellow and quiet. Thank god she’s not like me. She’s like Grant; I hope she stays that way."

On having kids: Jillian says, "I always thought my lifewas about my career but I was so wrong. I met Grant, we got married andthree months later I got pregnant." Grant says he felt the same way. "I told everybody, ‘I’m not gonna get married, I don’t want kids.’ When you’re not looking for it, it shows up."
