23006_pActress Mariska Hargitay, 43, and her husband Peter Hermann took their son August Miklos Friedrich, 10 months, to the Tribeca Street Fair on Saturday. They listened to a live band while August laughed and danced (with a little help from dad)! August’s blanket is an Amber Hagen reversible motorcycle blanket ($158).

Celebrities' favorite bedtime stories

People magazine is running a feature this week on what celebrities read their children at night. Greg Kinnear, Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, Mariska Hargitay, Rainn Wilson, and Sarah Jessica Parker participated – here are their choices!

Picture_1_3Sarah Jessica Parker, mom to James Wilke, 4: For Every Child, A Better World ($9.95) by United Nations Publications. ‘It’s the cold hard facts [about world poverty]. We’ve read it every night for weeks, and he still asks, ‘Why don’t those children have what they need?’ Because he lives in a country where clean water and food are at arm’s length, it’s hard for him to internalize why they aren’t available to everyone.

, mom to Jaden Christopher Syre, 8 1/2, and Willow Camille Reign, 6: Children’s books by Fred Crump, Jr ($10.36). ‘They’re black fairy tales I found that are kind of underground. They’re written by a guy who took all of the classic fairy tales and re-created them with black characters. My daughter loves them. They’re her favorite!

They’re rhythmic, and kids like that. My husband Peter and I read to our son August and do different voices. Then August eats the books. He doesn’t discriminate. He’ll eat whatever we have.’

Reviews: Dear Johnnies Hospital Gowns

Cbb_reviewed_at_pinkRecently, when Tori Spelling opened up to U.S. Weekly about the birth of her son, Liam Aaron McDermott, she mentioned that though her diaper bag wasn’t packed (Tori went into labor over two weeks before her due date), she made sure to grab her dearjohnnies nightgown prior to leaving for the hospital. Tori received a blue and white polka dot Ellie gown (pictured here) monogrammed with the initial "T."

Detail_elliefront_2Like Tori, we love this line of hospital gowns! They are 100% cotton, come in great colors and can be worn during and afterlabor.

Some of my favorite dearjohnnies features include snaps down the back (to hide your tush from visitors) and shoulder snaps that make breastfeeding easier.  It’s SO much more comfortable to be in a gown for a while after deliverybut so unfashionable to be wearing the hospital gown so dearjohnnies is really a greatsolution.

The dearjohnnies gowns have caught the eye of celebrities like Jennifer Garner, Mariska Hartigay, Ming-Na, Joely Fisher, Nicole Ari Parker Kodjoe and Melissa Joan Hart among others.

To read my complete review of dearjohnnies hospital gowns and to find out where to purchase the line and how to receive a 15% discount exclusive for CBB readers, check out the Celebrity Baby Blog Reviews site!

Mariska Hargitay shows off her postpartum bod

Mariska Hargitay is lookin’ mighty fine and extraordinarily happy.  The mom of 4 month old son August has lost a great deal of her pregnancy weight already.  During her pregnancy, she rode her bike to keep fit.  After delivery, she credited breastfeeding to her weightloss, as well as a healthy well-balanced diet that includes lots of fresh vegetables.

Visit Celeb-Diets.com for the photos of Mariska plus a few exercises that new moms can use to tone.

BabyBeReady launches a new design for Breast Cancer Awareness month

Babybereadyhallybag_1One of our favorite "why didn’t I think of that" inventions is the BabyBeReady bag by BabyDish.  Created by a mom, it is prepacked with the first year essentials like diapers, travel wipes, onesie, sunhat, bib, rattle, pacifier, burp cloth, and bottle.  Everything packed in a great bag with durable plastic overlay and clear zippered compartments that you can use later on.  I have one in the Golfer print that I have been using as a diaperbag/purse.  On one side, I put a few diapers, wipes and changing pad.On the other side, I keep my wallet, Blackberry, camera and containerof Cheerios for Anya.

Celebrity fans of the BabyBeReady bag include Mariska Hargitay, Jon Stewart, and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month and in memory of her best friend, Hally Lyn, who lost her battle with breast cancer this year, Hally Lyn, BabyDish creator Stacie Mindich-Jordan designed The Hally Bag.  Proceeds from the bag will go the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Breast Cancer Research in Massachusetts.

You can order the Hally Bag either prepacked ($99) or empty ($45) at BabyDish.com
