Musician John Butler on "the infinite potential of love" he learned through fatherhood

During an interview with the Newcastle Herald ‘Weekender’ magazine, award winning bluegrass musician John Butler, from the John Butler Trio, spoke about the enormous changes that he has undergone since becoming a father to his two children, daughter Banjo, and son Jahli (born in 2006), with wife Danielle Caruana. John says their parenting has caused a "dynamic shift" in his life slowly teaching him "the infinite potential of love."

For me it was like realising I had another vital organ. I’m a love freak, a hopeless romantic, but I didn’t really know love. When Banjo was born I experienced an intensity of feeling I didn’t know existed. You think you’re the sun and everything revolves around you. Then all of a sudden there’s this other being in orbit which you revolve around. I stopped seeing things in political ways, in tired ‘isms’. I watch the Iraq war on TV as a father and see children with no legs. I mean, what the f— just happened? I want my kids to grow up as human beings, not as political followers or religious followers.
