Elisabeth Hasselbeck talks about motherhood reaffirming her beliefs

Elisabeth_2 The View’s co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 30, talks to Pregnancy magazine about her conservative viewpoints and strong opinions. Elisabeth is pregnant with her second child, due November 11th. She says:

Being a conservative mother isn’t the challenge. Being a conservative in New York City on television is the challenge. Once I had Grace, I had more reassurance and affirmation as to why I have felt the things I’ve felt for a long time.

And as a mom, now I want to make sure that the decisions I’m making and the votes that I’m casting are going to create long-term benefits for Grace and my next child and hopefully more to come after that.

She and her husband, former New York Giants quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, 29, have a 2-year-old daughter, Grace.

The November issue of Pregnancy magazine on which Elisabeth appears on the cover, will be available Tuesday at newsstands for purchase.

Singer Thalía to teach daughter to do 'what makes her heart happy'

Thalia At the autograph signing for her book, Thalía: ¡Belleza!, singer Thalía, 35, announced that she is due in four weeks. She and her husband, producer Tommy Mottola, 58, are expecting a daughter around October 2nd. People en Español was on hand to ask her a few questions:

How are you getting ready for the birth? Are you getting used to the idea of it? It’s been said you might do a Cesarean…

There’s only four weeks left or something. God has his plans, and I sincerely want to do things naturally, but you never know, you might get there and have to do a Cesarean. I’m ready for all surprises, and if it can be done naturally, then I’ll do it naturally.

There’s no established date; my mom’s birthday is Oct. 2, so I hope I can give her a great surprise…but she’s going to be a Libra, like my mom.

You’re working on your radio show and now the book, so it seems like you never rest…Are you thinking about taking a year off once your daughter is born?

When she’s born, I’m not going to have time for anything. For now, I’m so hyperactive that I can’t take a break. I have the radio thing and I keep touch with my people, but in a much more relaxed manner, with a microphone. Thanks to God, the radio show has been a success, and we have the worldwide connection with thaliaradio.com, which has listeners and fans all over the world: Greece, Hungary, they listen to it everywhere. I have a studio in my house, so fortunately I can bring my co-host and producer to work.

What do you think you’ll teach your daughter about inner and exterior beauty?

Overall, that she should be happy in life, that she does what makes her heart happy, that she follows her intuition, that she be daring, fantastic, glorious, loving and thankful to God, and I’ll teach her the rest; simple things like putting on eyelashes and lipstick, I’ll teach her that stuff.

British actress Hermione Norris expecting baby #2

Hermione_norris

British star Hermione Norris and her husband, TV producer Simon Wheeler, are expecting their second child this August. Hermione, who has starred in such shows as Spooks, Cold Feet and Wire in the Blood, says the pregnancy comes after a year of doubting that she and her husband would be able to add to their family of three, telling the Daily Express,

It’s a dream come true. It’s no secret that my husband and I have been trying to have another child and I am incredibly excited at the prospect. ." I always wanted another, I didn’t want Wilf to be an only child so I’m really excited to complete our family."

The couple’s son Wilf is 2. Hermione says she’s not sure how he’ll feel about being a big brother.

I’m not sure what Wilf makes of the idea of having a brother or a sister. We have heard him utter the phrase ‘Don’t want new baby, just Wilf’. But I’m sure he’ll come round to the idea!

The actress says that although she’s thrilled about the baby, her actual pregnancy isn’t the most enjoyable or comfortable period of her life.

No, I don’t bloom like other women- I just feel uncomfortable and sick. It’s strange as you’re utterly powerless during the whole thing. You can’t drink or you hurl; you have to sleep when your body demands it-you’ve no control. But the end result’s worth it!

Along with the uncomfortable pregnancy, Hermione is worried about going through another bout of post-partum or post-natal depression.

I so feel for women who have PNT because what happens is you’re given the most precious gift in the world-this child- and yet you feel down. It’s baffling and confusing. I know I’ll have all those hormones but if it happens again I’ll hopefully be more prepared this time and cope better.

However, one thing she’s not concerned about is losing her pregnancy weight.

I pinged back much to my friends annoyance! I don’t feel pressurised to get back into size 8 jeans. I hate all that "yummy mummy" stuff. I don’t buy into it at all. I love chips and chocolate and as long as I get my vitamins from vegetables I’m happy. Life’s too short to worry about a few pounds.

Salma Hayek: Motherhood is not for everyone, it is for me

Salma_hayek180Actress Salma Hayek opens up about the societal pressures on women to become mothers in the May issue of Marie Claire. The 40-year-old Ugly Betty executive producer is expecting her first child with her new fiance, businessman François-Henri Pinault.  Salma says women should not have children just because society tells them to, especially not if they feel aren’t ready,

Motherhood is not for everyone. It is for me, but there’s no reason women should feel rushed to have a child.

She says that these and other expectations placed on women today are unrealistic and unfair.

Society thinks if you don’t have children, you’ve failed as a woman, even if you are CEO of a company. You’ve got to be beautiful, smart, skinny, tall, rich, successful at your job, married to the right guy – and have genius children. And by the way, you also have to be a nun!

This interview took place before Salma publicly announced her pregnancy in March.
