Brad Pitt talks about kids' reactions to paparazzi

Jolie_pitt_87854621_cbbActor Brad Pitt, 43, recently sat down with Parade, and one of the items discussed were the paparazzi. The father of Maddox, 6, Pax, 3 1/2, Zahara, 2 1/2, and Shiloh, 16 months, understands the appeal of his family with partner Angelina Jolie, 32, but believes that it is getting out of hand with the media.

I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a videocamera in Mad’s face, yelling, ‘Maddox! Maddox!’ He doesn’t get aresponse. He doesn’t know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately.

But my 2-year-old dreads being anyplace there arecameras. It scares her. They’re all in her face. My kids are faced withthis every day! It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all themajor cities. We just can’t live there. You don’t understand — this isthe hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.

Brad has many beliefs that he lives his life by, but one of the most important is family.

What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and livedaccording to them and not betrayed them. One of those is mybelief in family. I still have faith in that.

Update: Brad Pitt talks to USA Today about more children and the paparazzi

Bradpittusatoday Update:  Additional quotations added.

Actor Brad Pitt, 43, is making the media rounds in promotion of his new film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.  In so doing, Brad has talked to USA Today and the Associated Press (AP) about his family and the influence the paparazzi has on their lives, as well as the possibility of more children. Brad and partner, Angelina Jolie, 32, raise four children; Maddox Chivan, 6, Pax Thien, 3 1/2, Zahara Marley, 2 1/2, and Shiloh Nouvel, 15 1/2 months.

One interview took place while Brad was in Toronto and he had already been away from his children for two days. Two days too many.

Two days without the kids [he mutters, shaking his head.]

The main thing that concerns Brad is the presence of the paparazzi around his children. Though he does insist that he understands the nature of their work.

I understand the deal [of the paparazzi]. It got chaotic last night, but there was genuine happiness, and it meant something to them. It only bothers me when they get in the kid’s faces.

Brad also mentioned that he and Angelina are not done in adding to their ever-expanding brood.

We’re certainly not done. They say, ‘Any plans for a fifth?’ And I say, ‘And a sixth, and a seventh, and an eighth, and a ninth.’ That’s my answer…

The couple have spoken in the past about how much they enjoy a family bed.  Brad said that although their custom-made 9-foot wide bed is "just big enough" to fit the family of six, more children means the co-sleeping accommodations will need to be re-visited.

One more and we’ll have to go to 11 feet.

However, an interviewer with USA Today did question how the constant travel and movement effects the children.

We just take turns and make sure we keep the family together.  It’s impossible for us [to stay put]. We’re run out of every majorcity. There’s just too many paparazzi. There’s always cameras in thekids’ faces, yelling their names. Angie gets out of the car, and theytake the camera down to the curb and shoot up [her skirt]. It’sunbelievable…there’s a constant negotiation in how to survive and howto maintain a family life.

Brad Pitt on parenthood — the most lovely thing and the biggest pain the ass!

Bradpitt0191ax_cbbActor Brad Pitt, 43, talks to this month’s issue of V Magazine about life with partner Angelina Jolie, 32, and their kids, which he "couldn’t imagine any other way." The couple have four children together: Maddox Chivan, 6, Pax Thien, 3 1/2, Zahara Marley, 2 1/2, and Shiloh Nouvel, 15 months.

The interview took place just after the Fourth of July — Brad discusses celebrating life everyday.

We missed [Fourth of July] here. But when you have four kids, every day is the Fourth of July.

Brad also says that becoming a father has been one of the most significant events in his life; it’s crazy but he wouldn’t change it under any circumstances.

Yeah. It’s hilarious. It’s the funniest, most lovely thing I’ve ever taken on. And the biggest pain in the ass as well. And I couldn’t go back. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

The father of four also talks about the purpose of having Shiloh in Namibia, the constant spotlight, and their ability to control what they can.

It’s fourfold. For one, we know that’s going to happen so it becomes a plus. It’s all about cost and gain, pluses and minuses. Two, and most importantly, we loved the idea of our daughter being born on another continent, something she’ll be able to have roots in as well and want to explore as she gets older. That was the preeminent factor for us.

Three, we knew that they had very strong privacy laws there. And we knew there was going to be a huge bounty on our heads and we were going to get very little peace unless we went to a place like that. And four, it happened to be a place that we loved.

Brad’s new film, The Assassination of Jesse James, opens next month.

Update: Brad Pitt talks to Details about family

Brad_pitt2_180_2Actor Brad Pitt, 43, appears in Details this month. The father of four — Maddox Chivan, 6, Pax Thien, 3 1/2, Zahara Marley, 2 1/2, and Shiloh Nouvel, 15 months — reveals that he ‘sees the future‘ in his children and that he and Angelina Jolie, 32, are ‘not done‘ adding to it. Expanding on the topic, Brad addresses the quick growth of his family, which some have criticized and others have applauded.

Well, I had one kid, then two kids, then three kids. Two-and-a-halfyears or so. Listen, I’ve always embraced extremes, so it doesn’t feelodd to me. There’s a couple weeks of finding your balance, and thenit’s in stone.

Brad also reflects on the nature of his family and how they came together.

You just look at them and go, my daughter’s from Ethiopia, two sonsfrom Asia, a daughter who’s born in Namibia-and they are brother andsister, They have the same dynamics I had growing up, and I…It pleasesme so much. I get so warm.

I don’t even see in that, anymore, whattheir lives could have been. I have to intellectually think about that. They are a bond, they are a family. And I want to see those bonds andthat family grow. And that right there, sitting in our kitchen, is howI want to see the world. It’s how I want the world to be.

Despite their happy home life, Brad admits that taking the children out in public can be a challenge because of the relentless paparazzi — but that the family will not be ‘caged in‘ because of them.

It’s not going to keep our kids caged in. The only thing that frightens me today is something happening to my kids, or something happening to Angie, or something happening to Angie and I. That happens when they follow you, right. It is the defining annoyance of my life.

I just think how strange it is for my kids. Mad, Z, Pax — they really believe that every time you go outside there is a herd of people with cameras snapping flashes in your face [who] are going to kind of block your way when you’re trying to get somewhere. That is their vision of the world outside. Very strange, isn’t it? It’s an everyday thing for them. They don’t really see it as bad or good. Z will point and go, ‘Cameras!’ Pax will point and say ‘People.’ Maddox is keen to where his parents are coming from.

I don’t want them to be tensing up, and I don’t want them to see or feel any kind of threat. But man, when [photographers] cross the line, you know-if it happened to one of your kids, it’s hard not to want to take them down.
