Ben Affleck says daughter Violet is 'happy as hell'

Ben_and_violet_affleckParade magazine interviewed actor Ben Affleck, 35, for their October 14 issue. Ben spent time talking about his little girl Violet Anne, 22 months. Ben and his wife, Jennifer Garner, 35, are planning for Violet’s future by scoping out schools in Los Angeles, New York and in Savannah, Georgia, where the family has a country home.

Ben says that he considers Violet ‘the best thing that ever happened to me.’ He continues talking about Violet saying:

She is happy as hell and talks like crazy! She has the ability to make me smile and feel so good and be so charmed that, when I’m not with her for a while, all I want to do is go home, just to be around her again.

Ben’s own childhood wasn’t as stable as he would have liked it to be. He tells Parade that he dealt with feelings of loneliness when he was a child.

I grew up in a home environment where I wasn’t getting esteem for anything I did. I played sports, but I wasn’t great at them…There was alcoholism at home because of my father. I changed schools [at age 8], and I didn’t really know the kids at the new school. I felt alone.

Ben concludes his interview with Parade saying:

Life is very good. Am I a happy man? I am when I’m around my daughter. Then I’m a very happy man.

Jennifer Garner checks up on Ben's gym class behavior

16675pcn_garner07_cbbWhile appearing on Regis & Kelly on Thursday in promotion of her new movie, The Kingdom, actress Jennifer Garner, 35, discussed the growing father-daughter relationship between Ben Affleck and their daughter Violet, 21 months — so close, in fact, that it takes precedence over chatting with the other moms in their gym class.

[Ben] is the best. There’s nothing better than seeing your guy being a loving, tender, sweet [father] — It’s a roll of the dice.  Now [that Violet's] big enough…all of a sudden they get big enough that they can talk, and the guy all of a sudden is like, ‘Oh! Hi.’  They’re pals.

When I’m working, he’ll take her to the little class with all the moms.  It will be him at the gym class, I’ll go back the next week and say [to the other moms], ‘How was he?’  They’re like, ‘He’s great.  Didn’t talk to us, just focused on her.’  You’re supposed to talk to the moms, but that’s okay!

Jennifer Garner: Losing weight was "a pain in the ass"

Jennifergarner149588_cbbJennifer Garner has made no secret about how hard it was for her to lose her pregnancy weight, admitting she thought those 30 to 35 pounds would shed much easier, but alas, it was "a pain in the ass" to lose it all. To get back into shape, Jen not only adjusted her diet, but hit the ice too.
My husband [Ben Affleck] shot a movie in Boston called Gone Baby Gone. I went to Boston with him and I trained with the trainer from the Boston University hockey team.
With The Kingdom hitting theaters Friday, a play to prepare for and Violet, 21 months, at home, the actress says she no longer has any downtime.
What working mother has time for herself? I miss sitting down and reading the paper all in one go.
Jen, 35, does have some help at home. Calling Ben a "wonderful dad," she knows she’s lucky that he’s so hands-on.
[He's] super involved, competent and loving. Ben will be there and the nanny is fabulous; Violet has known her since she was a week old and loves her.
Asked if she wants more kids, Jen jokes,
I’m six months pregnant. No, but definitely some day.
