Blue Heeler Lisa McCune talks about motherhood and the difference between parenting boys and girls

Lisa_mccuneAustralian actress, Lisa McCune, most famous here for her role in local drama, Blue Heelers (she won a TV Week Logie for her role as Maggie Doyle) talked to Australian Women’s Weekly, this month about motherhood and her three children, Archer James, 6, Oliver Timothy, 3 1/2, and Remy Elise, 2. Here are the children/parent related highlights;

Lisa talks about her relationship with Remy and how it is different than having a boy.

She’s like my little shadow. She just goes everywhere I go, she loves being with me. Archer’s energy is just amazing. These boys need to be out of the house by 9am and running in the backyard, or collecting shells on the beach down the road, where we go a lot. But Remy will sit down and play in the kitchen, and do things quietly on her own. We will have to lock her up when she starts wanting to go out with her big brothers’ friends.

Lisa also talks about her husband, Tim Disney as a father.

Tim’s such a great dad. It’s kind of like living in wonderland with Tim, even for me. There’s always some crazy activity going on. He’s really fun.

Hugh Jackman on Supernanny and being embarrassed by his kids!

Hugh_jackman_070519_21_cbbHugh Jackman, father of two, who is in Australia filming the new Baz Luhrmann film, Australia, spoke to Foxtel Magazine about fatherhood and some of the most valuable advice he has received, as well as his kids embarrassing him (or lack thereof). The couple have two children, Oscar, 7, and Ava, almost 2.

Hugh and wife, Deborra-Lee Furness credit Supernanny for helping their daughter sleep.

I can tell you something I got from the Supernanny [Jo Frost]. She is so good. The sleeping thing, when you have a kid who is about nine months, put them in a cot, sit next to the cot and don’t look at the child. Don’t say a thing and, every two minutes, move away to the door. Within three nights my daughter was sleeping. Supernanny – click on her, that chick is unbelievable.

No matter what his kids do, they never embarrass him.

I’ve had my children crap on floors and on me. I never get embarrassed, I kind of love it.

Introducing Daniel John Beretta

Australian Sunrise sports reporter, Mark Beretta and his wife Rachel welcomed their second child together two weeks ago. Daniel John, weighed in 3.74kg, and joins big sister Ava, 3. Mark and Rachel spoke to Australian weekly magazine, New Idea this week. They discuss the effect of the baby boy on their family and posed for some photos.

Mark on Daniel’s birth.

We knew we were having a boy, but until you hear the cry and see the baby it all seems a bit surreal. After nine long months you finally hold them in your arms. From then on it’s priceless. We have a person here – there really was something in that tummy bump!

Rachel speaks of how great it is to see Mark with Daniel.

Mark has been on a high since Daniel was born. He’s a wonderful dad to Ava – she’s his little princess. But he’s so very proud to have a son, and he’s enjoying the thrill of mapping out their future together.

Mark now has a boy to be boy-ish with. This means he can stop dressing Ava as a boy.

It’s good news for Ava now Daniel’s here – I can stop making her a tomboy. She can stop kicking the footy around. I’m sure she’ll be happy to palm off some of that rough stuff.

Rachel is besotted with her gorgeous new baby; he’s the spitting image of his dad.

Just like Ava, he’s the spitting image of Mark so I haven’t had a look-in again! Daniel is a big placid boy with a spiky mop of hair, and I’m completely besotted. I waste hours gazing at his tiny fingernails and long eyelashes.
