How Nancy O'Dell dropped her baby weight

NancyandashbyWhen it came time for Nancy O’Dell to lose her pregnancy weight, the Access Hollywood anchor asked her close friend Lisa Rinna for her personal trainer, Jeff DePeron, who has helped Nancy almost get back to her pre-pregnancy weight in just two months. The 41-year-old and mom to Ashby, 3 months, tells OK! how she did it.

On the exercise routine: Jeff’s workout regimen combines Pilates, tai chi, ballet and Olympic-style disc throwing. He and Nancy meet five days a week for one hour.

I start on the elliptical and get five minutes of warm-ups, and then we do twists, which is kind of like disc throwing. It gets your bum, your abs and your arms because you’re holding the ball at the same time. We do arms after that, but they alternate every other day. In between, I’ll go down and do push-ups. I’ll do another muscle group so that we’re not wasting any time. And the hour, believe it or not, goes by so quickly. I’ve [also] been running at least 30 minutes.
On the new diet: In the morning, it’s egg whites and Canadian bacon or Irish oatmeal. Then I’ll have a mid-morning snack: either almonds, yogurt or a piece of fruit. Lunch is usually some kind of chicken or fish with lettuce. I have a mid-afternoon snack — which we’ve since cut out — a few pieces of turkey, or some king of protein like peanut butter, and then dinner is chicken and vegetables.

On cheat foods: Nancy couldn’t resist her mother-in-law’s rice pilaf and Coke.

I confessed to Jeff that it’s really hard for me to cut out Coca-Cola. He said try to limit it to half a can a day.
On the weight loss: Nancy admits to have been "a little worried" about losing weight because of Hollywood standards.
I put on 30 pounds, and I’ve taken off 28. I want to get back to where I was before I got pregnant, and I’d like to [lose] five more. I’m fine with being a size six. I’m tall, and I’ve got hips. My husband [Keith Zubchevich] likes to see the curves. He made me feel good because I was walking around naked, and he’s like, ‘You’re looking good.’
On motherhood: It’s been the most wonderful experience. When I wake up in the morning and I see her, it’s like a Christmas present.

Introducing Ashby Grace Zubchevich

Nancy O’Dell introduces her daughter Ashby Grace, 9 weeks, in the latest issue of People. The Access Hollywood host says she’s been so enraptured with Ashby and motherhood that she has no idea who or what’s in the headlines anymore.
The other day someone said to me, ‘So what’s up with Lindsay Lohan?’ I said, ‘I have no idea, but if you want to know how to change a diaper, I’ll be happy to tell you!’
Nancy knows much more in addition to changing diapers. Husband Keith Zubchevich, 38, who has two sons, Tyler, 12, and Carson, 8, from his first marriage, calls his wife a "natural."
She knows by the way Ashby cries if she needs to be fed or have her diaper changed.
Keith chips in with some nice foot massages.
She loves Keith’s foot massages. He now has little feet and big feet to rub.
The 41-year-old, who says her daughter’s wardrobe "already rivals mine" with gifts from the likes of Halle Berry, returns to AH next month. She’s been getting camera-ready by nursing, working out thrice weekly and doing ballet-based exercises, resulting in a 24 lb. weight loss. That leaves six more pounds to go. As for a diet, Nancy says,
Breastfeeding is the best diet [plan]. I want to eat healthy for Ashby, so it’s easy to say no to pizza.
It’ll also most likely be easy to say no to more hours at work too since Nancy cannot stand being away from her daughter, whom she calls a "happy baby," who "loves to laugh at little animal sounds."
I keep flashing a little light on her at night just to look at her. It’s love like I’ve never felt before. My life is finally complete.
