Selma Blair on Disciplining Son Arthur: I Have to Remember ‘We’re Not Buddies’

06/13/2016 at 02:15 PM ET

If Selma Blair‘s turn playing Kris Kardashian on American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson had audiences wondering why they hadn’t seen more of the actress in recent years, the answer’s simple: she’s been having too much fun playing a later-in-life mom to her son Arthur Saint.

“I’ve been very much hunkered up at home,” Blair, 43, told PEOPLE while attending the 15th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, a charity event spearheaded by her close friend Rebecca Gayheart, confessing that she’s simply been loving being a mom “every day.”

“I’m up at 5:45, I’m playing Candy Land by 5:47,” she jokes. “I remind myself every moment, I think, because I did have my child later than a lot of people have children. So I’ve had a whole life to live and realize the grass isn’t always greener. I just need more sleep, but I do appreciate every moment.”

Selma Blair: Why I Bought My 4-Year-Old Son a Toy Gun

10/27/2015 at 01:30 PM ET

Even though Selma Blair‘s 4-year-old son Arthur Saint plans on dressing up as a police officer this Halloween, he will not be allowed to carry his toy gun in his holster.

“I bought him a cap gun and I talked about it with his dad, and it’s taken very seriously,” Blair, 43, told PEOPLE at Brian Bowen Smith‘s Metallic Life exhibition opening in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

“I won’t let him carry around the play gun for Halloween. He doesn’t get to carry it around outside.”

Not too long ago, Blair noticed that her son was interested in guns. “He would take a flower and break it and turn it into a gun — bang bang. I mean, that’s his thing. So whether I bought him a gun or not, he finds a way to do it.”

Why Selma Blair Collects Cockroaches with Her 4-Year-Old Son

10/11/2015 at 06:45 PM ET

Selma Blair‘s son Arthur recently turned 4, and he’s starting to develop interests including swimming and soccer — but don’t expect to see her hanging out with the other soccer moms.

“His dad [Jason Bleick] takes him to soccer because I’m not going to be a soccer mom! I don’t know how well I’d fit in with that crowd,” Blair told PEOPLE Friday at a Tiffany & Co. sponsored party in Los Angeles, celebrating the release of Liz Goldwyn’s new book, Sporting Guide.

“So dad can be a soccer dad,” she says. “I’ll swing by every now and then.”

Selma Blair Shares Sweet Photo of Son Arthur

07/11/2014 at 10:00 AM ET

Selma Blair isn’t afraid to get “down and dirty” with son Arthur. And that includes indulging in a little mommy-and-me tattoo session.

On June 21, the actress shared an adorable photo on Twitter of the pair showing off their matching ink (temporary that is!) featuring NUNUNU Baby‘s cute logo.

“Woke at 6, dressed in Nununu baby Arthur even gave us Nununu tattoos,” she captioned the pic.

Along with their coordinating body art, we couldn’t help but notice the almost 3-year-old‘s cool skull top ($39) and Sprinkle pajama bottoms ($39), which are also from the contemporary kids brand.

Selma Blair Arthur Bleick Chooze Scout in Rockout Print Slip-On Shoes
Splash News Online

On June 19, we spotted Selma Blair and her little guy shopping at The Grove in Los Angeles.

And the denim-clad duo looked adorable, especially Arthur who sported a straw fedora, green graphic tee and faded jeans.

But the almost 2-year-old‘s fun Chooze Scout slip-ons (now $39, originally $49) are what really caught our eye.

Upon close inspection, we noticed each shoe has a different pattern (guitars on one and skulls on the other).

Apparently, Chooze kicks all come in mismatched yet complementary prints for kids who like to mix things up.
