It's a Barbie World for Courteney Cox-Arquette and Coco

Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic

There isn’t much guesswork involved when it comes to Christmas shopping for Courteney Cox-Arquette‘s daughter Coco Riley, 4 ½. For the last few years, Courteney says it’s been all Barbie, all the time in the home she shares with husband David Arquette. "She’s obsessed with Barbies," Courteney, 44, said of Coco on Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "She has all the Barbies that David gives her, which is almost daily." Calling her husband a "shopaholic," Courteney added that "David feels like if he just goes away for an hour, he has to [give Coco a Barbie]."

The couple found themselves in over their heads last year, however, when they sat down late on Christmas Eve to assemble Coco’s big gift — the Barbie mansion. "We went out to dinner, as we always do on Christmas Eve, with all the Arquettes," Courteney recalled. "We came home and it’s 11 p.m., and we get out the Barbie mansion, in this big box." To their shock, they then discovered the small print on the packaging!

"It says, ‘Please allow nine hours for assembly.’  And this is at 11 p.m. There was nothing we could do; I’m not kidding, we had to get a contractor to put this house together. It is huge, it is pink, it is ugly…I can’t give this thing away."

Host Ellen DeGeneres was able to deduce that, given the late hour and the holiday the next day, it was unlikely that Coco’s Barbie mansion was waiting for her on Christmas morning. Conceding the point, Courteney admitted that the couple instead "gave it to her six months later for her birthday." This holiday season has already gotten off to a good start for Coco, who had a blast at a tree-trimming party held last weekend at the home of Courteney’s good friend Jennifer Aniston. Guests — who included both Courteney and Ellen — were invited to bring an ornament and place it on Jennifer’s tree, but Coco wound up performing most of the manual labor herself! Said Courteney,

"Coco was the only person taking care of the tree. She put [all the ornaments] only on, like, a 3-feet-high level."

Kate Hudson Plans Her Schedule Around Son's School Day

Courtesy InStyle

Mornings for Kate Hudson start bright and early and the actress is not complaining! Met with a big hug from her son Ryder Russell, Kate admits that his refreshing, positive attitude each day, which always manages to pull at her heartstrings, makes heading to work a more difficult task than usual. "When he climbs into bed with me, wraps his arms around me and says, ‘Mommy, the sun’s up! It’s a beautiful morning!’ I’m sorry, do I really want to go to work then?," says Kate. While the answer is somewhat obvious — "No!" — Kate sends her "special kid" Ryder off to school and plans her day accordingly to ensure she spends as much time as possible with her boy.

"My whole schedule revolves around the time he’s home before and after school; then from 9-3, I am running around L.A. doing a million things."

After all, Kate doesn’t want to miss a day with Ryder, who is at a "fantastic age," turning five in January. The proud mama gushes that "joy literally exudes from that boy’s soul."

Ryder is Kate’s son with ex-husband Chris Robinson.

Tom Cruise: Suri Was Sensational on Set

NY Team/Most Wanted

While many actors tend to dissuade their children from following in their footsteps, Tom Cruise — who calls acting "a great life" — reveals at the premiere of his new movie Valkyrie that he would "love it" if his three children were to join him in the industry. With his son Connor Antony, 13, making his film debut in Seven Pounds on Friday, Tom shares that Suri is showing a lot of potential as well! A pro when it comes to life on location, Suri "quickly…adapted to set," learning to "be quiet" while her father was filming and would "watch the monitor and talk," boasts the 46-year-old actor. However, despite her natural ease around the set, Suri initially had trouble adjusting to Tom’s eye patch.

"Suri would come up and take it off. Suri would be in the make-up trailer and she’d pull my patch off. So the girls in the make-up trailer got a little teddy bear with a patch on it and they gave it to her to play with, so she got used to the patch on the teddy bear."

Despite the couple’s hectic schedule with Tom on his press tour and his wife Katie Holmes starring in Broadway’s All My Sons, he can’t help but "just love every moment." Calling himself "very lucky" to have Katie and his three kids — including daughter Isabella ‘Bella’ Jane, 16 this month — with him, Tom’s heart grows even more when he hears 2 ½-year-old Suri say his favorite words. Despite an "incredible" vocabulary, the couple melt at one specific phrase.

"The ones that we love are, ‘I love you.’ I love hearing, ‘I love you, dada. I love you, mama.’"

Raising three kids, Tom couldn’t be happier with what he has managed to give them, saying "they have the life I wanted." Having "always wanted to travel the world," for cultural enrichment, Tom — whose policy for his brood is "if you’re going to do it, really do it" — is proud to provide his children with the necessary tools for them to make their own, educated decisions. "That’s how I raised my kids — that they have full exposure to the world and all different kinds of ideas and philosophies so that they can make choices for themselves," says Tom, who "supports them in whatever choices they want to make."

Valkyrie is in theaters December 25th. Bella and Connor are Tom’s children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

Jennifer Connelly on Elementary-Aged Romance

Robert Pitts/Landov

Love is in bloom at an earlier and earlier age, Jennifer Connelly said last week on Late Night With Conan O’Brien. The 38-year-old actress revealed that her 11-year-old son Kai “broke up” with his girlfriend of two years last year, despite some surprisingly adult times spent “in a twilight between playdate and actual date.” On one such occasion, Kai and his “ex” were picked up by her mom after school. “I said, ‘What did you do?’” she recalled. “He said, ‘Well, we went to Citarella, we bought some groceries, we cooked a nice meal together.’”

“I said. ‘What did you cook?’ Thinking it was Mac ‘n Cheese. But they made veal, and pesto mashed potatoes, and salad. A proper meal!”

Host Conan O’Brien — himself dad to Neve, 5, and Beckett, 3, with wife Liza Powell — said that he was “scared” by Jennifer’s story and doesn’t want his kids “to know about the opposite sex until their late 40s.” In agreement, Jennifer added that despite Kai’s burgeoning love life it is actually her younger son Stellan, 5, who makes her most “nervous.” She jokes,

“We’re trying to make it through kindergarten without him getting anyone pregnant. We’re halfway there.”

Kai is Jennifer’s son with ex-boyfriend David Dugan; Stellan’s dad is Jennifer’s husband, actor Paul Bettany.

Amanda Peet Takes 'Transitional Objects' Seriously!

Limelight

Amanda Peet — someone who often travels for her job — says that daughter Frances ‘Frankie’ Pen, 21 ½ months, has naturally become accustomed to life on the road. In the beginning, the 36-year-old actress admits that she was "much more nervous" as a mom, and would "bring basically [Frankie's] whole world wherever we went." Frankie at first didn’t have a "transitional object," so Amanda would bring "a bunch of stuffed animals to see which one she was going to eventually become attached to." The approach backfired, however, when Frankie became overly-attached to a stuffed cow! In the "ensuing panic" that she would lose Frankie’s beloved toy, Amanda said she was willing to do anything to find a back-up.

"I had given another cow to a friend of hers at the same time, so I called her and said, ‘You know that gift I gave you, is there any way I can get it back?’ So now we hide cow #2, in case something happens to cow #1."

Amanda and her husband David Benioff get confused sometimes when cow #1 is in the wash, and cow #2 comes briefly into play. "We trick her and the only problem is sometimes we think we’ve lost it, so we’ll like [motion to each other and whisper about where it could be]," Amanda explains. "It would be really disturbing, I think, if she saw both of them."

Pete Wentz Says Public Will See Bronx 'When It Makes Sense'

Paul Warner/WireImage

Those who anxiously waited for Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz to confirm their pregnancy, endured nine months watching Ashlee’s belly grow, looked forward to hearing the baby’s name following the birth, and are now counting the days until baby Bronx Mowgli makes an appearance, will have to wait a bit longer! Taking to his blog to discuss their choice to forego a photo shoot, Pete — who reveals that they have been offered "mounds and mounds of money by mags from here to Guam" — shares that the new family is not yet ready to show Bronx to the world.

While both Pete and Ashlee respect the decision of other celebrity couples to introduce their newborns with a magazine spread, they have instead decided to make a conscious effort to shield their baby boy from the spotlight, at least initially. They realize the paparazzi is out there, waiting to snap Bronx’s first photo, explains the Fall Out Boy bassist.

"There is a danger when there are cameras being held over walls and into our backyard. We are followed day and night and that was fine when it was us, but we are going to do our best to shelter Bronx from that as much as possible. It’s scary to be followed by 10 cars to your home."

Admitting that he "understand[s] the curiosity," but is unable to fathom "the viciousness that comes along with it," Pete reveals that the decision to not introduce Bronx is only temporary, as the proud parents can’t wait to show him off. In the future, "when it makes sense," the trio will venture out together as a family and "Bronx will be out in the world." Until then, however, Pete can’t help but provide his fans with a tease as to who his son takes after!

"Trust me, he’s cute. He looks like his mommy."
