Willow Smith Poses for V Magazine; Releases New Single

It’s hard to believe Willow Smith is only 13.

Just a few years ago, she released a hit single (“Whip My Hair,” anyone?) and performed at the White House.

And let’s not even talk about all her fun hair changes and style choices.

But what the teen wants now more than anything is to be a regular seventh grader. Which is why she turned down a chance to star in Annie, the film her father, Will, is producing with Jay-Z.

“I just wanted to chill, and be at home, and decompress, and just find out what I wanna do and where I stand on this planet, with the little tiny place we have,” says Smith in the spring preview issue of V Magazine.

Happy 13th Birthday, Willow Smith!

It’s only fitting that Willow Smith was born on Oct. 31. And this year, the growing teen is turning 13. The only thing more perfect is if her big day had actually fallen on Friday.

True to her Halloween birthday spirit (check out that Freddy Krueger tee she wore to the Men In Black 3 premiere last May), Will and Jada‘s daughter treats every day as an opportunity to dress up. So we chose our fave outfits of hers from the past year.

From her ’70s-style romper and purple rolled up overalls to her red streaked hair paired with ripped jeans and Matrix-style leather ensemble, Willow definitely follows the beat of her own style drum.

We can’t wait to see what else the fashion risk taker has in store.
