Haylie Duff Dishes on Her Latest and Greatest Baby Find: A Cool New Highchair

05/26/2016 at 03:15 PM ET

Haylie Duff is a mom of many talents — one of them being cooking!

The actress, who has her hit Cooking Channel show The Real Girl’s Kitchen, is particularly focused on 1-year-old daughter Ryan Ava eating healthy now in her younger years to shape her palate for the future.

“One of the things that was really important was that my daughter ate really balanced meals so she was not the teenager that would only eat chicken fingers,” Duff tells PEOPLE about the meals she whips up in the kitchen for her family. “I think that really starts young and it’s the example that’s set.”

Haylie Duff on Daughter Ryan Turning 1: ‘It’s Great and Sad All at the Same Time’

05/13/2016 at 10:55 PM ET

Haylie Duff is one proud mama.

When it comes to daughter Ryan Ava‘s first birthday, the Real Girl’s Kitchen star is feeling nostalgic.

“To be honest, I’m a really emotional mom,” Duff, 31, told PEOPLE exclusively at the Pier 1 Imports Outdoor Summer Preview Al Fresco event in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

“I’ve been updating the baby book, which I’ve been bad about doing because I just put it off for so long. I opened it and was like, ‘Oh, so I haven’t updated this since month two.’ I’ve been catching up a lot and looking back on a lot of things and it just goes by really fast.”

05/04/2016 at 11:00 AM ET

From business owning to singing, acting, food blogging and everything in between, Haylie Duff does it all — including parenting!

On Friday’s episode of Amazon’s Style Code Live, Duff dished on the challenges of juggling work and being mom to daughter Ryan Ava, who will turn a year old on May 11.

“Most of the trips that I take that are the one-day trips … I’m okay to do it because I get a little one-day break and then I’m so happy to get back to [Ryan],” Duff, 31, said.

“[This interview] was hard because I’d come off of starting my new show with the Cooking Channel and I’d been gone from her for two days, and I got to go home for a six-hour period to unpack and re-pack and see her, and then I got on another plane. I didn’t want to leave this time.”

Haylie Duff says she hasn’t bounced back to her pre-baby body nine months after giving birth to daughter Ryan Ava — but the actress is totally okay with that.

Duff told Wonderwall that she “definitely” doesn’t “feel like I’m looking amazing.”

She explained, “I have not put pressure on myself to lose everything right away.”

Aside from walks with baby Ryan, Duff’s fitness regimen has been mellow, mainly due to her desire to breastfeed her little girl.

“I had sort of an interesting situation when I was nursing where if I was working out too much or cutting my calories, my milk supply really went down,” the Real Girl’s Kitchen host, 30, told Wonderwall.

“So for me, it was a struggle because I really wanted to focus on losing weight and getting my body back. But at the end of the day, I had to sit down and make the decision that meant the most to me — and that was breastfeeding my baby.”

Motherhood is all about balance: Balancing work and kids, balancing being a wife and a mother, balancing loving your children and wishing they’d stop driving you completely crazy!

In PEOPLE’s latest Mom Talk video, celebrity moms open up about the times when they thought their kids might make them lose it — an all-too-familiar feeling for moms everywhere.

” ‘Mama. Mama. Mama.’ That can make you want to go insane,” Molly Sims shares.

But that’s the least of her worries. “My son Brooks, who’s 3, came in and his chin was cut open. Eight stitches, plastic surgeon,” she recalls. “But at the same time all this was going down, [my daughter Scarlett] was, like, screaming at the top of her lungs and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I turned to my husband and I’m like, ‘Holy s—! What are we gonna do!’ ”

Haylie Duff: My Baby Fussed Every Time I Nursed Her After Exercising

10/29/2015 at 09:00 AM ET

Like many new moms, Haylie Duff was eager to get moving again after giving birth to daughter Ryan Ava in May. But the Real Girl’s Kitchen star didn’t realize a little exercise would have unintended consequences — for her breast milk.

“At the two and a half, three-month mark I was like, ‘Okay, I’m ready to go back to spin and yoga and Pilates. And the minute that I started exercising, my baby fussed every time I nursed her,” Duff, 30, said in a frank PEOPLE Mom Talk video about the ups and downs of breastfeeding.
