Musical Duo Empowers Parents to ‘Sing to Your Baby’

Courtesy Community Music, Inc.

Playing traditional lullabies is one way of keeping your baby entertained. But how about trying your hand at singing some sweet new tunes yourself? That sounds like music to our ears!

Musical duo Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer (of Cathy & Marcy) have been delighting audiences for the last 25 years — and now they’re bringing their experience working with children to a new Sing to Your Baby book and CD ($19.95), out May 3.

“A large portion of what we’ve done together for all of these years is music for kids and families,” Fink explains to PEOPLE. “Singing is a vibration and babies react to those vibrations. But also they react to the parent’s voice.”

Fame

Willow Smith is on a roll.

Following the runaway success of her debut single “Whip My Hair” last fall, the 10-year-old pop star shot a video for her second single, “21st Century Girl,” in Los Angeles this week, as dad Will Smith and mom Jada Pinkett Smith looked on.

Even big brother Jaden Smith, 12½, jumped in to help film his little sister.

Willow also recently debuted a snippet of her new song in a video post on her Facebook page.

Fisher-Price iXL: A Cool Learning Device for Kids

Courtesy Fisher Price

If your child is constantly grabbing for your handheld, maybe it’s time to get them one of their own. Lucky for you, Fisher-Price recently released the iXL Learning System: 6 in 1 Smart Device ($80), which is a terrific option. Suitable for kids from ages 3 to 7, it features a digital reader, game player, notepad, art studio, photo viewer and MP3 player.

It also comes loaded with an interactive story and activity featuring a cute monkey that will make your tots giggle for hours. More importantly, the iXL will help boost your child’s story comprehension, as well as help improve their counting, art, creativity, vocabulary and spelling skills.

We love the sturdy design — you don’t have to worry if it gets banged up. Plus, the controls and oversize stylus are easy for mini fingers to manage.

Want more info? Go to Fisher-Price.com. While you’re there, make sure to also check out the wide selection of cool learning games available.

Courtesy Radio Disney

Radio Disney‘s DJ ‘Ernie D’ Martinez has interviewed Mariah Carey, Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers, to name a few.

But his favorite people to talk to? Your kids.

“I talk to more than 200 kids a day during the show,” the creative director and on-air personality tells PEOPLE Moms & Babies. “They like to talk about themselves, share their stories. It’s always entertaining.”

And while anecdotes about silly siblings and funny parents are amusing, Martinez particularly loves hearing what his listeners — whom he calls “own little focus group” — have to say about music.
