Between supporting mom Hillary Clinton‘s presidential campaign and parenting her own children, Chelsea Clinton is a busy woman these days.

But the former First Daughter makes sure to prioritize ensuring that her children are being exposed to the world around them in a way they can gradually come to understand.

“I read the [newspaper] headlines to [2-year-old daughter Charlotte] and to her little brother Aidan, who’s 3½ months,” Clinton, 36, told Seth Meyers on Wednesday night’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers.

She explained, “The first thing I remember learning how to read is the newspaper.”

“We would talk about what I was reading over breakfast or over dinner, and so I hope to have that same tradition with my children,” said Clinton, who is married to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.

Clinton knows, however, that her kids are a little young to grasp to depth of the news stories she’s sharing with them right now.

“I realize they don’t quite understand what I’m talking about,” the proud mom said, “but hopefully it’ll just be part of their lives so that when they do understand, they will have opinions. I’m just so excited to learn what they’re going to be most curious about, interested in and angry about.”

Meyers asked his guest whether she screens what she reads to Charlotte and Aidan, considering their grandmother is in the news a lot lately.

“I don’t read the things that I don’t think children should be hearing,” Clinton said. “Of any age.”

Joked Meyers in response, “With the newspaper, you’re probably like, ‘Page 1, 2, 19, 20 … there we go, 25.’ ”

“There is definitely selective reading,” Clinton agreed.

Bwahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa! Come on…I had always hoped better for Chelsea Clinton than to follow in her parents LYING footsteps! I was wrong. She’s JUST like her mother and father… Stop now, Chelsea, while your kids still have time to escape this cruel legacy!

Some one should ask her what it’s like having the devil for her mother.

That is so sweet! Now they will know their evil grandma murders U.S. soldiers, lies repeatedly while under oath, cheats, schemes and screws over members of her own political party., lies when she says all rape victims deserve justice (because all of Grandpa’s victims are ‘liars’, kids!), doesn’t care about cops, uses her foundation to scam/steal, had a total of 46 people murdered over the years including poor Seth Rich, lies about her health, can’t get anyone to show up at her rallies, etc.

The list goes on, kids! There is one bright spot though. Thankfully, you’re not biologically related to Grandpa Bill.

I’m guessing you’re going to stop with 2 kids, Chelsea, seeing as its a well known fact your hubby takes after your dad (your adoptive dad, not your bio dad Web) and cheats on YOU.

I may not be a Clinton fan of any kind, but when I read comments like she had 46 people murdered, and Chelsea isn’t Bill’s daughter, I wonder what on earth gets in people’s minds? Is the truth not bad enough for some of you? It is for me…I don’t feel the need to make stuff up. 46? That’s more than Hoffa ever thought of…… Benghazi is enough of a horror to have on he shoulders…..

I don’t care who Chelsea’s mom is, and I don’t care what their political views are. But reading a newspaper to kids this age is just stupid.

What’s going on with the People website? It’s hard the find an article you can comment on lately.

Not in this world. These headlines are depressing and nothing anyone should want to talk about. I’m kind of kidding as I respect parents talking to their children about good and bad things and think they’re important to hear but I think we all dread reading the headlines nowadays.

What ever happened to Cat and the Hat or any children story? A newspaper!!!!

Horrifying. I’m so glad my mother allowed me to be a child and read me books, not violent headlines.

Don’t you think she might enjoy a nice story instead?
