Emily Blunt Is ‘So Relaxed’ with Second Baby: ‘Your Energy Is Not Like, “Oh My God, Am I Gonna Kill This Child?” ‘
“She’s taken to it well,” Blunt told Terri Seymour on Extra about her 2½ year old daughter sharing the spotlight with 3-month-old Violet. “She’s doing brilliantly, she’s very kind to her … She was sort of indifferent, and then really loved her.”
Blunt, 33, says her newborn is “doing really well” — and she wonders if birth order really does affect her baby’s demeanor.
“I wonder if it’s the second kid — you’re so relaxed, and then they’re relaxed,” she says. “Your energy is not like, ‘Oh my God, am I gonna kill this child by something that I’m doing?’ ”

As for her postpartum figure, The Girl on the Train actress says she has two things to thank for bouncing back.
“Good pair of Spanx and some good genetics,” she admits. “I have them on right now.”
Blunt adds, “I do come from a family of very thin people. My mum got cornered when we were kids and they were like, ‘Do you feed your kids, Mrs. Blunt?’ We’ve always been those kids who have a fast metabolism.”
The star and her husband, actor John Krasinski, recently moved their family of four from Los Angeles to New York, and she tells Seymour it has allowed them to spend more time with their A-lister friends. Recently, she and Krasinski had a date night with Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso, and Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky.
“It was a good night,” she says of the star-studded evening out. “Very fun. We love Mexican food. It was awesome.”
The actress also took the time to dispel rumors that she was almost the next Britney Spears.
“Please! Nobody can out-Britney Britney,” she says. “The story has been blown completely out of proportion … I was approached by somebody when I was in school and they said, ‘You can sing. You should record a couple of demos,’ and I did, and then I got cold feet and pulled out because I was scared … it was what I wanted to do.”
But now, Blunt appears to be living her dream with the upcoming release of Girl on the Train. Blunt says the role of an obsessive divorcee was not easy to portray — especially since she was four months pregnant with Violet while filming.
“It was incredibly challenging,” she explains. “It was discovering new depths, and it’s a mindset that’s a frightening place to be … she’s obsessive and unhealthy and sad, and she’s afraid of herself.”
