Cat Deeley on Parenting 6-Month-Old Son Milo: ‘It Takes a Tribe’ to Raise a Baby
Like most parents would likely admit, Cat Deeley just wants her son to be happy.
“I would like him to do anything he wants to do,” the So You Think You Can Dance host, who recently revealed her 6-month-old son Milo‘s name via a beautiful nameplate necklace at the Teen Choice Awards, tells PEOPLE.
“I would like him to be happy, first and foremost,” adds Deeley, 39, who is married to Irish comedian Patrick Kielty. “I would like him to be kind, I would like him to be funny and I would like him to be smart. And any of those things are fine by me.
“And if dance comes into that? 100 percent,” the new mom continues, exclaiming jokingly, “Buy him some tights, goddamn it!”

As a new mom, Deeley has learned it really does take a village to balance a career and parenting.
“I’ve got so much respect for all moms out there that do it. You have to juggle like crazy and have a team around you,” she says. “And whether that’s your family, Mom and Dad, nanny … whoever it is, you have this team. It takes a tribe — I can totally understand that now.
“Milo is 6 months old, so he’s still really little, but I’m loving it,” the British television personality adds with a smile. “It’s really hard, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done too. So it’s both.”
And at the Emmys in September, she told PEOPLE why she and her husband would be finding out the sex of their baby.
“Purely because it’s such a lifestyle change,” Deeley said at the time. “I’m 38, it’s going to be a real change for us. [I] think it will be really nice to know if it’s a little girl or a little boy and [call] it he or she rather than it.”
“So You Think You Can Dance returns Monday, Aug. 22 on Fox.”
