Joel Madden Has a Mini-Me! Nicole Richie Talks About Life on Tour with Two Kids
The Richie-Madden family is loving life on the road.
Nicole Richie talked to PEOPLE about touring with her husband, Good Charlotte‘s Joel Madden, at the launch of House of Harlow 1960 x Revolve collection, presented by Möet & Chandon. The fashion mogul hosted the event at the Revolve Hamptons House in Southampton on Saturday.
The family has been spending so much time together that her son Sparrow is becoming a mini-me version of his punk rock pop.
“My son likes to dress like his dad,” she said.
And Richie is undoubtedly thrilled that her son resembles her husband. A few weeks ago, she posted a Father’s Day dedication on Instagram to thank Madden for being such a great dad and husband.
“Thank you for making me a mommy…Thank you for encouraging our children to be human instead of perfect. And thank you for your unconditional love, patience, & acceptance. I hope our son turns out to be just like you. #happyfathersday @joelmadden,” she captioned the throwback photo with Madden and baby Harlow.
As for daughter Harlow? She likes to stay out of the spotlight.
“And sometimes my daughter doesn’t even come,” Richie said. “She’s a little more reserved. She’ll hang out on the bus and do art. The bus is awesome.”

Richie credits her kids for helping her explore “fun” places to visit in each city they pass through.
“I’m always finding the fun places in each city, and I probably wouldn’t do that if I didn’t have kids,” Richie, who sported an orange jumpsuit from the brand, said, adding that the launch was a detour from her husband’s tour schedule.

For her kids, Richie says the best part about touring is the excitement of traveling to new places — and having lots of family bonding time.
“I think they just like sleeping on a bus and waking up in a different city every day,” Richie said. “They get to hang out with us all the time. They’ve probably been in every mall all over America by now. We went to the Mall of America, which is in Minneapolis. It is massive. And there is an amusement park inside, cute little rides, and a roller coaster.”
