Staying Wild! Reese Witherspoon Takes Son Deacon on Hiking Trip
Reese Witherspoon may have already gotten an Oscar nod for her portrayal as protagonist Cheryl Strayed in Wild, but she hasn’t left her wilderness-friendly days behind her — in fact, she’s taking her family along for the ride.
On Tuesday, the mom of three shared an Instagram selfie that included her 12-year-old son Deacon. In the background? Tents, an expanse of trees and pretty much nothing else.
“Let’s do this! Into the wilderness we go,” Witherspoon, 40, captioned the shot.
The Legally Blonde icon also added the hashtags, “#StayWILD” and #HikingTrip.”

The New Orleans native — who, along with Deacon, is mom to 16-year-old lookalike daughter Ava with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, as well as 3½-year-old son Tennessee James with husband Jim Toth — shared more glimpses into the twosome’s trip, including a video of horses hanging out next to a beautiful stream.
Witherspoon also included a simple shot of her hiking boots alongside an inspiring message encouraging her followers to join along in the great outdoors.

“That first step into nature. Who else is out there hiking and exploring the world!?” she wrote. “Share your adventures, or favorite nature quotes, as I share mine. Embark on this adventure with me by using #StayWILD.”
“Off to Jr High! Yay, Deacon! #proudmom,” Witherspoon captioned a memorable shot.
