Married at First Sight‘s Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis Expecting First Child
First comes marriage, then comes love, then comes the baby in the baby carriage!
“We can’t wait to start this new chapter of our lives,” says Otis, 30, who was also a contestant on Ben Flajnik‘s season of The Bachelor and recently released her new memoir Wifey 101: Everything I Got Wrong After Finding Mr. Right. “Being a mom has been my dream.”
Adds Hehner, 35: “It feels like we’re just now truly starting our lives together. It’s the icing on the cake for us to be starting our family and we’re absolutely over the moon.”

The couple met for the first time on their wedding day, and have had the ups and downs of their marriage documented on their spin-off show, Married at First Sight: The First Year (produced by Kinetic Content), over the last two years. And though they have faced challenges, they finally found a common ground where having a baby is concerned.
“We certainly worked on the relationship, and I think when you’re in the trenches and you make it out together, you become stronger as a couple,” Hehner said on the Today show Tuesday.
Otis — who is four months pregnant as of Tuesday — jokes that she is wearing the “skinniest, tightest dress” because “you can barely tell there’s a baby in there!”
“It’s like a trick question,” adds Hehner. “She goes, ‘Do I look pregnant?’ I don’t know how to answer that! Do I say yes, or … ?”
The mom-to-be also added that her husband wanted to finish crossing off items on a “pre-baby bucket list” before starting a family, which she told the Today hosts she thought was smart. And after a skydiving trip last season, Hehner finally told Otis he was ready for children.
“In a way, it’ll be just like our marriage: Parents at First Sight,” jokes Hehner to PEOPLE. “We can’t wait to lay eyes on this little miracle of ours!”
Adds Otis, “We couldn’t be happier.”
