Kelly Killoren Bensimon on Having ‘Really Irregular Periods’ When She Was Thin: ‘I Never Thought I Was Going to Get Pregnant’

06/28/2016 at 09:30 AM ET

The experience of trying to get pregnant is well known to vary from couple to couple. But Kelly Killoren Bensimon isn’t one of those women who planned out her first pregnancy and kept trying to conceive until it happened.

“I wasn’t trying to get pregnant. I was modeling and traveling a lot, and was sometimes really really thin,” the Real Housewives of New York City alum shares on PEOPLE’s Mom Talk.

“And periods [were] really irregular,” Killoren Bensimon, now 48, adds. “I never thought I was going to get pregnant.”

Killoren Bensimon adds that, when she was 19, a psychic told her she was never going to have children (she is now mom to teen daughters Thaddeus Ann and Sea Louise). So when her doctor told her she was pregnant years later, she didn’t believe it at first.

“When I got pregnant, I was like, ‘I’m not feeling like myself, I’m feeling like someone else,’ ” she says. “And my doctor was like, ‘You’re pregnant,’ and I was like, ‘It’s impossible. The psychic told me.’ ”

Jacqueline Piñol, 37 — who also voices Pepito Gonzalez in Bordertown  is another woman who wasn’t sure what her parenting future was going to look like. She and husband Jonny Blu own four dogs, and were operating on the adage “If it happens, it happens” — and happen it did, with the arrival of 4-month-old son Atlas.

“Sure enough, the first time [we weren’t] careful, boom,” the former CSI: NY actress chimes in.

OMG can People mag stop being this obsessed with everything weight related? You know what, I’m most definitely not thin (I’m not fat either) and I’ve had irregular periods ever since I first started having them. Such a tiny fragment of one’s life, why does it need to be in the news? Not to mention it’s nobody’s business.

Why is this woman and her decades old pregnancies a many-times repeated story in PEOPLE?

Enough of this woman! She isn’t relevant! Why am I constantly having to see her face on this site that’s supposed to be about CELEBRITIES? This nut job should just go away.

But she did, 15 -18 years ago, and we know about malnourished models. Why is this an article?

Is she paying People to be published here with story after story? I’d rather see articles on current RHONY stars than her. She’s annoying and she has the personality of a rock.

Wow really, TMI people thanks for oversharing. Somethings just need to remain private, these celebrities now have no class, just crass. Nothing is off limits, enough!

A model for what??? Every one’s a model!

When will these people learn TMI.

I don’t want to know about how many times you slept around or where you did it.
I don’t want to know about your irregular periods,
I don’t want to know about all your abortions,
I don’t want to see ass and boobs on a regular basis.
I don’t want to see another Kardashian no nonsense story.
I don’t want to see Khloe waist, boobs and lips again and again and again.

Complain people to People, it is really going in the gutter.
