Parenthood has arrived for Erika Christensen!

The actress and husband Cole Maness welcomed their first child, daughter Shane Maness, on June 21, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Born at home Tuesday evening in California, Shane weighed in at 6 lbs., 3 oz.

“I’m in labor. Right now,” Christensen, 33, tweeted that night.

Christensen, who married Maness in September, revealed the news of her pregnancy on Twitter in March by captioning a photo of her puppy with, “This boy is getting a little sister. A human sister.”

She also celebrated with an outdoor boho-chic baby shower in late May, at the Beverly Hills home of director and celebrity stylist Sophia Banks. At the bash, guests, including Parenthood costars Mae Whitman and Lauren Graham, sipped on mimosas, noshed on tacos and cake and made their own flower crowns.

“Erika was so happy and loved being welcomed into motherhood by her friends … so many incredible mothers and women,” a source told PEOPLE of the shower.

Hello, Baby… Mae meets the bump.

“It’s still rather surreal,” Christensen told PEOPLE in April of being pregnant. “She’s a little kick boxer in there — she’s big and moving and communicating as far as reacting to music that we play and stuff like that.”

Cute name. I can’t understand birthing at home – I had a suddenly breech kid and needed an emergency c-section during labor and then had an 11.2lb boy. I needed the hospital! Hooray to those who can do it.

I just wanted to add that the baby is reacting to sound. Try sitting in a room with them and suddenly having people start talking or making loud noises an hour after they’re born. It’s the same thing inside: loud noises. It wakes them up. They’re not responding to Mozart particularly.

Animals do not have human siblings. They don’t have dogmothers. They aren’t fur babies. Anthromorphizing animals might seem cute but it’s an immature and sad thing. If you are replacing human babies with pets than that’s a reason. I suppose. But if you have children, don’t belittle them with such nonsense.
There is no animal that is equal to a human no matter how much you love Fluffy. We became pet worshippers in the last 10 years (coinciding with the delayed age of first pregnancy and fewer kids) and it’s inane. Like having a pretend tea party after work or building a fort in your office.
Go volunteer if you need that much adoration and gratitude.

first of all, congratulations to Erika and her family! I loved her in Parenthood!

secondly, Kateri, did someone pee in your Cheerios this morning or something? your rant indicated that you’re clearly not a pet owner (and if you are, you probably shouldn’t be!) my dogs and my daughter are best of friends. the dogs were here first, and they were very much out babies; we loved them, fed them, played with them, kept them alive, all things we now do with our daughter. i love my daughter like nothing I’ve ever experienced, and I am in no way “belittling” her when I say I love our FURBABIES a crazy amount too (expechally since she loves them the same!) go find somewhere else to run your mouth!
