Cheaper by the Dozen: Blake Lively Jokes She and Ryan Reynolds Are ‘Breeders’

06/20/2016 at 06:00 PM ET

It won’t be long before Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ home looks like an episode of The Brady Bunch.

The Shallows actress told Today on Monday that she and Reynolds plan on growing their family far beyond baby number two.

“I’m one of five kids. My husband is one of four, so we’re officially breeders,” she joked. “You can go on our website and we will give you some of our children.”

Lively, who is mom to 18-month-old daughter James and another baby on the way, said life with her baby girl keeps her on her toes.

“She’s always doing something fun and exciting,” she said. “She’s the most fun, funny human being I’ve ever been around in my life.”

Earlier this month, the 28-year-old told Marie Claire that she hopes to give her children a “normal upbringing” — much like Reynolds.

“We don’t ever want to rob them of what we had because then we’d feel really selfish,” she explained.

Of her little brood, she explained, “All my eggs are in one basket, and that’s my family. That’s where my heart is.”

“That’s where my everything is. My family: That’s the thing that I feel most protective of and the thing that I feel is the most exposed when I feel exploited.”

You do realize the Brady Bunch was about 2 divorced parents coming together. It would have been better to go with Cheaper By The Dozen, as I’m sure Blake would probably prefer to have all her children with Ryan, not get a big family because of divorce.

Well on

It kind of weirds me out that 2+ is suddenly considered equivalent to having like… 12 kids.

To Ummm:
The Brady Bunch first off was not two divorced parents!
Mike Brady was a widower, get your facts straight! As
far as Carol Brady the mom, I’m not quite sure. They actually
seemed to have a pretty nice situation. Let’s not judge divorced
parents! Each situation is unique.

KLP on

I find her incredibly overrated. She’s gorgeous, but her acting stinks.

@Ummm. The Brady Bunch was about two widowed parents.

@Anonymous … Who in the world was talking smack about divorced people. Blake talked about wanting lots of kids, which they referenced with the CBTD in the headline, then referenced the Brady Bunch, which sorry, was about a widower and a who knows (which I always thought Carol was divorced and no one talked about it). And the Brady Bunch was about a blended family, which Blake and Ryan are not. It was about using the wrong terminology to describe a situation. Not giving flack towards divorced people.

@ ummm:
I don’t think she was being literal!!! She was implying she wanted a large family! Everyone is so fricken serious these days! Geez!
She’s adorable, btw!!!

verbandverse on

Let’s not get so literal. I’m sure by the Brady Bunch reference, she just meant that they want a LOT of kids, NOT that she wants to get divorced and marry a widower.

@ Just A Duck

@ Ummm
You were. Did you read your first post! Duh!

If they can afford a big family I say good for them.

People said Brady bunch not her

Well, their offspring will be genetically blessed, in the looks department at least. They are both stunning.

That dress she’s wearing (top of it anyway) looks like something from Dancing with the Stars. She is much prettier than that dress allows her to be. She has much better style.

Omelz on

She is overrated, her acting is just so so.

Nick on

Blake is one true hot mom.

And I am going to bet, that unlike most of us, she does not change all the diapers, do all of the feedings, etc. etc. So, truly it is easy to want a million kids, when the many tasks are not completely being done by you🙂

I wanted to say just how beautiful she looks. She is glowing.

After reading the Brady Bunch comments…it makes me chuckle. I think the folks at People need to possibly hire new writers and / or proofreaders before the story is put in print. lol

She better start popping them out! Its says Ryan is 39. I know its different for everyone, but my husband wanted to be done having kids when he was 35 because he wanted to be younger. We had our 4th on his 34th birthday and I was 32. I’m glad we did because parenting is a younger mans sport. Love it, but its exhausting!

QAL on

Love the dress, it looks good on her.

Laura, you are assuming based on nothing you actually know, that they don’t take care of their child themselves. Like all working people, they may have some help, but they have indicated they are the primary caregivers, and unless they say otherwise, why should we doubt that? Not all actors, or celeba, have nonstop help and barely hold their own children. You have nothing to base your accusation on, so why throw it out there? Working parents always have some help, so why the (yet again) implied slur against Lively and Reynolds?

Stephanie on

She’s going on 29 with the second baby on the way. How is that making them “breeders?” Attention seeking much?? If she had five or six kids by now, I’d say, yes you are breeders. But she seems a real attention Ho@

Kar on

They’re only having their second child. That’s not a huge family.

Laura on

It used to be poor family have large number of children, not it’s more like the opposite, only the rich can afford to raise more kids.

KL on

The idea behind this article makes no sense.. Your families aren’t the only ones who have 4 or 5 kids.. And almost having 2 kids doesn’t make u a breeder.. Dumb article
