Audrina Patridge on Her Birth Plan: I’m Going to the Doctor the ‘Moment I Feel My First Contraction’

06/09/2016 at 09:30 AM ET

Audrina Patridge is gearing up to become a first-time mom.

But the former star of The Hills has had a lot on her plate aside from getting ready to bring a baby girl into the world. On top of recently hosting the travel show 1st Look and keeping a lifestyle blog, she’s planning a wedding to tie the knot with BMX-pro fiancé Corey Bohan.

And in the July issue of Fit Pregnancy and Baby, Patridge — who says the best part of pregnancy so far is “feeling her kick!” — dishes on how that latter life-milestone event has been affected by her daughter on the way.

“It’s a little overwhelming,” says the mom-to-be, 31, of wedding planning. “After I have the baby, I have no idea what size my breasts will be or if my hips will go down or get bigger. So for now dress shopping, at least, is on hold.”

Holding off on getting married until after her first child is born is the ideal situation for Patridge and Bohan, though, who wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I didn’t want to rush getting married because stress is bad for the baby,” Patridge admits, adding that Bohan was extremely supportive of her decision.

“Corey said, ‘Stop caring what people think. Their opinions don’t matter,’ ” she continues, noting that since she’s having an intimate wedding, none of her former The Hills cast mates are invited. “Anyway, we’ve already been together for so long, it’s like we’re already married. It’s just a title at this point — and a ring.”

Luckily for Patridge, she hasn’t really experienced any morning sickness, only some fatigue early on — and as a bonus, she actually feels amazing being pregnant, both physically and mentally.

“There were three or four days during my first trimester when I could not get out of bed and all I wanted to do was sleep,” she confesses. “But overall, I’m feeling good!”

She adds, “Watching my body transform has been amazing. I feel like a woman now.”

The soon-to-be mama is already very protective of her daughter, as well. When asked whether she would ever let her star in a reality show, Patridge answers simply, “Not until she’s 18.”

“I’m already super-protective of [the baby],” she adds. “This guy at the airport asked if he could take a picture with me and put his hand right on my stomach. I was like, ‘Please, don’t touch!’ ”

Although final wedding details are on hold and the nursery is still in progress — Patridge is creating a vintage mermaid-themed sleep space for her daughter — there is one thing the mom-to-be can officially cross off her to-do list.

“I’m definitely delivering in a hospital,” she says. “I’ve had friends who’ve gone without drugs and they’ve said it’s super painful but they’d never do it any other way. Meanwhile, my sister Casey, who has two kids, had an epidural both times and she made childbirth look easy. I’m not sure which route I want to take yet. Either way, I’m a little scared.”

Adds Patridge, “All I know is, the moment I feel my first contraction, I’m going to the doctor. I want to be in the hospital bed, relaxing, with my lavender-oil diffuser set up.”

Hate to break it to you, but no hospital or doctor will see you unless your contractions are 3-5 minutes apart and you are dilating or your water breaks. So good luck with that.

Yeah I thought the marriage thing was just a title and a piece of paper. Until I got married. 🙂 Now I truly understand and I love being my husband’s wife, the commitment it symbolizes. It makes me work that much harder to maintain our relationship and love. Good luck!

A hospital will send you home if you show up at the first contraction.

What is wrong with people? Some guy in the airport asks if he could take a pic with her and put his hand on her belly? That’s so inappropriate and down right creepy.

No, a hospital sill not send you home if you come in at the first contraction. They will augment the labor until the baby nearly dies and then rush into surgery for a c-section. 😦

I don’t think her cast mates will care about attending her wedding, except Spencer and Heidi since they have nothing going on.

Though it was kind of a b@$% way for her to address the question, she could of deflected way better.

Actually cr I know plenty of women who are sent home from the hospital in early labor. If you are not dilating 1cm an hour they send you home, contracting or not.

Marriage is so much more than a piece of paper and a title….if that’s all you think it is please don’t get married and ruin the marriage stats more than they already are because you probably also think a divorce is a piece of paper and title…

There is something wrong with her eyes… very strange. Although I like her comments here. Agree with hospital and epidural 100%.

Unless you are clearly misinformed unless your water has broken the hospital will send you home and tell you to come back when your water has broken. You needed to go through a short course on what to expect when you are pregnant so you could be in the loop as to what expect during pregnancy and birth. Also keep in mind that divorce rates double when you’re stuck in the engaged stage with no wedding date in sight. You need to keep that seriously in mind and if you think it’s cool to stay engaged and not marry look at the divorce rates that will set your mind to think more seriously.

CynthiaS…….Her fiance will likely not marry her because she gave him a reason not to by staying engaged and not setting a date to get married. I guess it’s easy to get pregnant, but harder to get married. A lot of women need to stop doing stuff like this getting pregnant and hoping the man will marry them. This sounds like Jennifer Hudson when she kept saying there’s going to be a wedding and here it is seven years and one kid later and she’s still engaged and not married. Let’s be honest here she’s never going to be a wife she’s settled for the role of baby mama.

Wow… There are some judgmental people on this board. Queenslogic… Are you in Jennifer Hudson’s home when they discuss marriage? Maybe they’re perfectly happy with their relationship. Maybe they are waiting? Maybe it’s just none of your damn business.
