Chrissy Teigen on Her Post-Baby Body: Bouncing Back Quickly ‘Wasn’t a Concern’

05/18/2016 at 12:00 PM ET

Chrissy Teigen is no stranger to fielding unwarranted comments about her parenting style — and body — from people on social media.

“I think some people actually get really weirded out if you do bounce back too quickly because you really should be at home with this little thing and taking care of her and not so concerned,” Teigen told PEOPLE Now.

“But you’ll never have the right answer and you’ll never be right to everybody, so you just live and do what you can do best,” she adds.

But when it comes to her own post-baby body, Teigen has no problem discussing how she was personally able to bounce back so quickly.

“I worked out more pregnant than I ever did not pregnant!” Teigen admits. “So for me, to be able to come back after wasn’t a concern.”

The 30-year-old model and wife of John Legend also describes her thought process behind making sure she was keeping active during pregnancy.

“I just wanted to feel good and feel energetic,” she says. “I’m still at that point [after having now-5-week-old daughter Luna Simone] where I can’t work out, which is awesome, because it’s like, ‘Sorry … I can’t!’ ”

And although Teigen jokingly told PEOPLE in February that “a 32C bra would be nice to wear again,” she also said she generally wasn’t feeling the pressure of having to look a certain way during her pregnancy.

“I felt unfit all the time before. It’s nice to relax and feel like you don’t need a six-pack,” the cookbook author said at the time. “I truly embrace this body. I think I might be happier pregnant. I love it.”

If it wasn’t a concern, then why on earth DID she ‘bounce back’ in 5 week’s time?

For the love of God, please stop putting her on this site every 5 minutes! Every single time she farts, sneezes or does anything, you have to post about it. I used to like this site, but now I can’t stand it because all you see is Chrissy Teigen. I’m not saying it’s all her fault, but can’t you do posts about other people for once?!

Good lord, why can’t she just say “I’m exercising a lot because I’m a model and we have to look good”. Simple.

her face though.

@AndYet :
I’m a midwife and I have seen women leaving the hospital 3 days post-partum and looking like they never had a baby. And they weren’t even one of those “fit moms” or models you can see praised online, just “regular moms”. Truth is we’re all different, some will bounce back right away, some never will …

Yeah, that’s why she was so quick to post full body shots of herself back in her old shorts…

She went out nine days after giving birth?? She needed a break? From what? If she needed a break after nine days the next 18 years are going to be very long for her!! Good luck!!

OMG! I had a baby and I lost the weight in 5 weeks because I have a personal chef and trainer. Welcome to the REAL world, right? Just be humble and be a mom already. To most, it is a job out of the limelight.

Yay glad she has a right attitude on her body image.

Has it occurred to her that comments are generally made because she offers up her activities online, no matter how insignificant, like free buffet?

Yoz on

Don’t worry, she will lose the weight!

There was an ig shot of her 3 weeks after giving birth in a crop top and cutoffs. It is what it is but don’t preach about something you don’t have to worry in the least about.
