Anna Chlumsky Shows Off Baby Bump at 31st Annual Lucille Lortel Awards

05/11/2016 at 01:00 PM ET

Anna Chlumsky is the epitome of a glowing mom-to-be.

The Veep star made an appearance at the 31st Annual Lucille Lortel Awards in New York City on May 2, donned a brightly colored dress that showcased her baby bump perfectly. Chlumsky completed the look with pointed-toe heels, red nails, natural makeup, and a relaxed, wavy hairstyle.

Chlumsky, 35, announced in April that she is expecting her second child this year with entrepreneur husband Shaun So. The twosome, who tied the knot in 2008, already have one daughter: Penelope Joan, 2½.

“I spend every morning thinking about this person in my family,” the Emmy-nominated actress told PEOPLE of motherhood back in September. “Does it feel like what I saw on TV growing up? Not really, but that’s what’s cool about it.”

Aside from getting to know her daughter and adjust to her family’s own routines, the My Girl star has also noted that being a mom is multi-dimensional — and anything but straightforward.

“This whole thing has taught me that motherhood has a wealth of definitions and identities,” she added. “There’s no one way to be a mom or one way to be a ‘good’ mom.”

As for the couple’s plans before the newest member makes his or her appearance?

“Being as expectant as I am, we’re going to keep it low-key and try to get a beach vacation in pretty soon,” Chlumsky said in a Facebook chat with Travel and Leisure in April.
