Lacey Chabert: ‘It’s Really Nice to Go Through Pregnancy with Friends’
“It’s just so exciting. We feel so blessed to be going through it,” she told PEOPLE at Milk + Bookies Story Time Celebration event in Los Angeles on Sunday.
After a few “challenges” in her first trimester, Chabert, 33, is now “feeling great” and is busy indulging in her pregnancy cravings — albeit not the stereotypical pickles and ice cream.
“I crave everything with lemon or vinegar and salty foods so it’s bizarre,” she says.
While she may not follow the pack with her cravings, she’s not alone in joining the first-time mommy club. Chabert’s close gal pals include Ashley Jones, who’s set to deliver her son next month,Ali Fedotowsky, who’s expecting a baby girl, and Amy Davidson, who recently gave birth to her baby boy.
“It’s really nice to go through pregnancy with friends because your body is just changing in so many ways and so many things are happening that cause concern,” she explains. “To be able to turn to my friends and ask for advice has been really, really nice.”

Chabert is getting lots of advice not only from her close circle, but from plenty of other people too.
“People give you tons of unsolicited advice on how to raise your child and birthing methods,” she says. “I appreciate all of the advice [but] you have to take some of it with a grain of salt and just figure out what’s best for you.”
Most of all, Chabert is looking forward to this new life experience. “I just want my child to be happy. I feel like children teach us so much about life and I’m curious to see what this baby will teach me,” she says.
As for her career, the actress plans to slow things down. “I’ll just have to see what happens once the baby is here,” Chabert, who will next star in June’s Still the King on CMT, says. “I really plan on going back to work as quickly as possible, but it’ll be different now.”
While acting may have been her first love, it’s clear she’s turning her focus on her growing family.
“The decisions I make will definitely be different because I want to take jobs where I could have the baby with me,” Chabert explains. “I just don’t want to miss my child growing up.”
