Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Expecting Second Child

All that laughter paid off: Blake Lively is pregnant again!

The actress and husband Ryan Reynolds are expecting their second child, a sibling for 16-month-old daughter James, a source close to the actress confirms to PEOPLE.

“Blake is absolutely thrilled and so is Ryan,” the source tells PEOPLE. A rep for both actors had no comment.

A second source close to the actress says she may make her red carpet baby-bump debut at the upcoming Met Gala on May 2.

Lively first sparked rumors of a possible pregnancy when she was photographed reshooting scenes for her upcoming film The Shallows. Dressed in a wetsuit, the mom-to-be did her best to keep her baby bump hidden behind a robe and a surfboard.

But both Lively, 28, and the Deadpool star, 39, have been open about their desire to have a big family. “I do want to just enjoy this moment,” the former Gossip Girl star told PEOPLE shortly after welcoming her baby girl.

“But I also feel like my first child is going to be the oldest sibling to the next kid, and that may change with each and every year. I’m looking forward to how one baby influences the other, and to my family as a whole, to every single chapter.”

Although the new mom told PEOPLE she didn’t feel like the birth of her firstborn was a “massive change,” Reynolds joked the sheer exhaustion from life with a newborn took some time to get used to.

“Our baby, in particular, is, we think, allergic to sleep,” he joked in March 2015.

Despite the sleepless nights, Reynolds, the youngest of four boys, couldn’t be happier to finally be the dad of a daughter.

“Having a daughter was a dream come true for me,” he told PEOPLE in February. “I never admitted it out loud, to myself or my wife, but I really wanted a little girl.”

6 articles on ryan and blake and baby. im happy for them but is she having a new messiah?

Guest on

He is such a strange man. If their 1st child is “James” as first name. Maybe the next will be a boy named “Sue.”

Vanessa on

If they have a boy, will they give it a girls name?

Seriously, if Ryan was my hubby, I’d be popping kids out like a Duggar!

You could not pay me one million bucks to get pregnant right now while the CDC issued the report that zika virus is causing brain damage in babies. Look, Zika is here already….be careful women!!! What will you do, abort your 7 month old when you see their small head? Anyway, hoping that they have a healthy baby but I would not be risking a child’s life right now.

Oh, Yipeee

Ali on

Think they name there baby girl Ryan after his father

Ginger on

When they named their daughter James, they simply forgot the female version is Jamie. Their bad.

Oanle on

James is more used for a male’s name even though can be used for a female, but kinda weird for a girl’s name.

Shopgirl on

Yay! Maybe they will have another daughter. They can name her Richard!

J on

Blake was either named after an uncle or grandfather – I forget. James was named after Ryan’s father.

Congratulation on the baby news…

Congratulations Ryan and Blake on the upcoming birth of your final child!

Blake and Ryan, if it’s a boy, what do you think about Elizabeth or Sarah?

Anonymous on

She has got to be one of the most tedious and self-important women in Hollywood.

And given the competition, that’s saying something.

What is in a name on

So I had a tenant who had 4 boys, couldn’t wait for a girl…baby number five, and they named her Charlie! Not a nickname for anything either…just Charlie. If you want a girl so much, like Ryan said, why not give her a girl name?! Maybe she and Maxwell (Simpson whatever) can get together and curse their parents for giving them ridiculous boy names.

I don’t understand why people give them shit about their daughter’s name. I am fairly certain James Marsden’s daughter is named Mary James, which is obviously after him, and no one has given him shit about it. I understand he isn’t as big as Ryan and Blake, but he used the name too. James was named after Ryan’s dad who ended up dying. I think it’s so annoying, and childish to ask if their daughter will be named Richard, or their son Isabella. Who cares what they name the kid? It’s THEIR kid, not yours. If you don’t like it, don’t name your kid it!

Guest1 on

Well that’s Hollywood pop babies because that’s what a lot of celebrities do- milk money from all the baby shoots, get paid millions to lose the baby weight by Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers and then they get divorced when the realize having children isn’t as peachy as one may think. Celebrities don’t have children for the most part because they want children, they have them because they get money/attention from it. Aside from giving birth it is the nannies that raise celebrities kids not celebrities themselves. Hollywood parents are nothing like real parents.

Sam on

Maybe they should name the next one Mark if it’s a girl.

sara on

If it’s a boy they should name him Katherine or Sophia. It’d only be fair

ameraleigh on

@guest1
You’re missing one important fact there, Blake and Ryan keep their daughter out of the spotlight so they haven’t made a cent from selling pictures of her. The same goes for others such as Kristen Bell and Dax Sheppard, so not every celeb parent uses their child as a accessory.

I STILL can’t get over how awesome name James sounds for a girl.

sunny on

Love the name James for a girl.

sally on

If it’s a boy, I can’t wait to hear what girls name they choose to name him!!!!

guest on

Why is everyone being so mean about their daughters name? I believe they named her James after Reynolds dad because he had passed away right before she was born. I think that it’s a nice idea. My middle name is my dad’s name and I love that!

Lindy on

@Guest

Actually his dad passed away last october, when the baby was almost 1 years old.

Jacnalex on

They named their baby James after Ryan’s who had passed away before she was born, I think it is a good name and a tribute to his late father

Lisa on

Some of you really need to get over yourselves!! James is an adorable and modern name for girl, and a lovely tribute to his father. Everyone has their own taste, and they didn’t give her some made up or crazy name, so stop hating. Ryan is incredibly hot and hilarious, and they seem like they have their priorities straight by keeping their daughter out of the spotlight. Congrats to this cute couple on their second baby to be🙂

@ ameraleigh
“they haven’t made a cent from selling pictures of her…” Sorry, but who cares about this couple?

“A second source close to the actress says she may make her red carpet baby-bump debut at the upcoming Met Gala on May 2.” This attention seeker wants to make her red carpet baby bump debut at the Met Gala? I’m not surprised… They are so private!

This is great news!
Also has everyone been living under a rock? I know girls in their 30’s named Devon, Dillon blake and Jordan. I also know a man named Stacey and one named ashley. I happen to love james for a girl. So much so my youngest is Ellie james after my brother, dad and grandfather. If you don’t like james for a girl don’t name your daughter james. But for the love of all things holy stop being such judgmental teats!

Katie on

Everyone is so butthurt about them naming their daughter James, but why has no one mentioned the fact that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher named their daughter Wyatt James? Male names for first and middle name.

Anonymous on

Guest, who cares about this couple? I do! I like both of them a lot. It’s clear YOU don’t. Not sure what two actors you never met did to you. Shrugs…

Katie, great point! Wyatt James is a beautiful name. Just like their daughter. My guess is that Mila is more liked than Blake and Ryan for some reason. Example, two celebs can do the same thing and one gets hate and one love, based on who people like/hate. If Kim Kardashian and Reese Witherspoon/Jennifer Garner or Kristen Bell did the same thing, the response would be 100% different. Anything Kim K does receives HATE, even if she does the same thing as a very likable celebrity. It makes no sense. I think that’s the situation here. People look at the celebrity and not the situation. It is quite ridiculous.
