Kristen Bell Talks About Noisy Mornings with Her Daughters: ‘They Wake Up Screeching and Screaming’

Kristen Bell wants to know why her kids wake up screaming.

During a Monday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Boss actress talked about her not-so-quiet mornings with her daughters Lincoln, 3, and 15-month-old Delta.

“It’s a circus. It’s a circus for sure. I love it. I love them,” Bell, 35, told host Ellen DeGeneres. “But, you know what? You know where we could do better? Why does everyone wake up screaming?

She continued: “Like, why don’t they tell you that? Like, ‘they’re going to wake up screaming for, like, four years.’ You wake up — the moment you wake up, you’re in, like, a horror movie, because everyone in the house is screaming bloody murder!”

The mom of two lamented that her young children don’t make her coffee in the morning: “I kind of thought maybe they would, or at least when they get older, right? And they don’t,” she joked. “They wake up screeching and screaming… ”

Despite the loud mornings and lack of freshly-brewed coffee, Bell said that motherhood has made her more comfortable with giving advice, namely about her latest health kicks.

“I’m so into health food and just just healthy living that my girlfriends and my friends, I feel like, are a little bit over it,” she said. “Because I’ll walk into the room and be like, you guys, does everybody know about selenium?!”

Your kids wake up screaming because you let them. Your the mom, teach them to wake up like normal , polite children.

I think she is my favorite actress! She seems so funny and down to earth … even how she describes her household .. with two children it is a bit chaotic, something most parents experience. Big fan of hers and enjoy reading articles about her and the family or listening to her interviews.

Whenever my great nephew spent the night with me I would be awakened by his sweet two year old voice singing “I’m awake, I’m awake!”

@Anonymous Right, because you can totally control a 3 year olds reaction to waking up. And that 15 month old, well darn, she should certainly know better. Get a grip.

Anonymous, get the stick out of you-know-where. Millions of kids wake up happy and LOUD. Nothing wrong with that and nothing wrong with their parents. I would be worried if a child woke up and didn’t make a single peep. Happy children make some noise and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with kids waking up screaming, it’s normal because they’re young kids. Do something distract them so they may stop screaming.

When my son was little, he would scream all the time when he woke up, I had to get used to it.

Yeah, kids are loud. That’s life with a baby, and when there’s more than one, it’s even noisier. I totally get this, and from what she is saying, it sounds like they do most of the care for their children themselves, because if there is ever a time when it would be nice to get some extra help, it’s during the mornings and evenings. Hope this couple lasts – they seem very down to earth and committed to their family life.

OMG she didn’t mean screaming as in crying West she meant like happy squealing and yelling.

I work as a nanny to two kids. They have never woken to screaming or anything like that. Seems weird and strange to think kids do that. But then again i raised two perfectly good kids. They have more respect for me then there own parents. They cant get away with anything with me. Ive raised them as tough but loving kids. Its all in how u treat them and raise them even as infants.

I don’t usually leave negative comments, but she simply comes across as another celebrity who thinks she’s really cute, funny and original, is on the self-deprecate parenting blogging bandwagon and wants to bore us to death with talk of her organic, macrobiotic, farmer’s market, locally-grown snoozefest of a diet.

And the names Delta and Lincoln….. come on…..

Her kids names are Delta and Lincoln? Funny name.

I am a nanny as well. Sorry, but I don’t believe what you are saying. Not a bit. Kids wake up screaming and yelling all the time. The girl I nanny for did today. Why? Because she was very sick. It happens to everyone. And you didn’t raise those kids….you HELPED raise them.
