Seth Meyers Jokes He’s ‘Bummed’ Kanye West Took His Baby Name

Seth Meyers is about to be a dad — and he’s nervous about “all of it.”

On Sunday morning, Meyers hopped on a bike at Equinox for Cycle for Survival‘s annual indoor team cycling event. Started by his college friend Dave Linn and his now late wife Jennifer Goodman Linn, Cycle for Survival was founded in 2007 and has raised more than $100 million to help fund research led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for rare cancers.

Meyers says it’s his “one spinning of the year.” He prefers running.

The 42-year-old will be doing a lot of running soon as his wife Alexi Ashe, 32, is pregnant with the couple’s first child, expected this spring. And while they decided not to find out the baby’s sex, he is slightly disappointed that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West took his first choice for their baby’s name.

“I’m just bummed that Kanye took my name,” he jokes, referring to his alma mater, Northwestern University. “Until he did it, North West probably would have been just the full first name.”

But what is the Late Night host most excited about when it comes to his baby’s arrival?

“I’m most looking forward to seeing who it looks like, that’s the first thing out of the gate,” he tells PEOPLE. “Although … a lot of people have said my wife and I look alike, so I think that’s the one thing we know, is that the child will look like us. If not, there’s a real problem.”

Meyers and Ashe have been seeking out advice from seasoned experts on parenting.

“It’s a lot more fun talking to people who are on their third kid than people who are on their first kid,” he says. “First kid people have a checklist [of] a million things long, whereas on their third kid, they basically just tell you, ‘Look, [babies] are indestructible. You don’t have to worry about it. They’re gonna get bumps and bruises and it’ll be fine.’ So we’ve been trying to spend more time with people that have multiple children.”

As for his own parenting style, Meyers isn’t quite sure if he can compete with own father.

The thing I’m most nervous about is, I’ve realized as it gets closer, my dad knew something about everything. My dad’s just a very informed person, and I know nothing about anything,” he says. “I know little things, but my dad knows how to make eggs and my dad knows how to ride a bicycle. I’m gonna have to outsource everything.”

One thing Meyers is hoping he won’t have to outsource is a commonality he and his wife share: their humor.

“I will say my wife is pretty funny for an attorney, so I’m hoping there’s some comedy genes in the kid,” he jokes. “I’m hoping it’s not just litigious.”

I noticed when he had John Stamos on his show the other night, John referred to Seth’s baby as a she. Not that that means anything though!
