Ali Fedotowsky on Being a ‘Crazy Person’ During Pregnancy: I Stopped Alcohol, Coffee and Changed My Makeup

02/12/2016 at 03:15 PM ET

When it comes to caring for her unborn baby, Ali Fedotowsky says she’s been a bit of a “crazy person.”

“I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t drink coffee, I changed my lotion and I even changed my makeup!” the former Bachelorette, who is expecting her first child with her fiancé, Valentine in the Morning co-host Kevin Manno, this summer, tells PEOPLE.

Lifestyle changes and all, Fedotowsky is excited about the new arrival. And though the mom and dad-to-be know the sex of their baby on the way, for now it will remain a secret.

“It hasn’t even settled in for us yet,” says Fedotowsky, 31. “So we’re not quite ready to share.”

As for wedding talk, Fedotowsky is focused on the baby — and making it clear that this was a planned event.

“We made the decision to start a family before getting married,” she says. “This was not an ‘oops, what happened’ moment. We pulled the goalie! We’re like, ‘We want this!’ ”

Huh? on

Wait! she stopped alcohol while pregnant!! She’s brilliant

@Trish where the hell did you hear drinking while preg is encourages. It goes straight into the baby. Would you bottle feed your baby alcohol? Is that also “encouraged”

Um she sounds like she is a focused person, not crazy at all.

Err so what exactly is so crazy about that. Alcohol and coffee are both bad for your health, and so bad for a baby in the womb too. Unhealthy and often toxic chemicals in lotion and makeup, can be absorbed into your body and negatively effect you and your baby. So of course it makes sense to make changes for your own health and that of your baby. There is NOTHING crazy about that at all.

“Oh, yes. We planned to get pregnant before we got married.” Give me a break. Yeah right.

It is mind-boggling how these former reality contestants try to cling on to their new-found fame after their time on TV has subsided. Not sure how going on a dating show for millions to watch is supposed to equate you to be a so-called celebrity. Makes you wonder if SOME of these contestants (not Ali) are there for the right reasons or just to extend their new-found celebrity status?

are these former reality TV celebrities there for the right reasons or looking to extend their new-found celebrity status even further?

yikes on

who is she???? didn’t she just be a contestant on the bachelorette? it’s not as if she’s famous…. who cares about her?

She says she DECIDED to give up alcohol and coffee because she’s pregnant. Has she been living under a rock? You are SUPPOSED to give up alcohol and caffeine when you are pregnant. That doesn’t make you a crazy person choosing, it makes you a person doing the right thing. Also I don’t get deciding to have a baby before you get married. I’m not remotely conservative but sometimes there’s just a right way to behave and a wrong way to behave.

That’s nothing crazy about it, she is doing the right thing to give up alcohol and caffeine during pregnancy, so she could have a healthy baby.
