Kristin Cavallari Snuggles with Saylor for the First Time Following Car Accident

01/28/2016 at 03:15 PM ET

Things are finally returning to normal for Kristin Cavallari following her scary car accident last week.

The Balancing in Heels author enjoyed a sweet moment with her 9-week-old daughter Saylor James, on Thursday — the first time the former reality star been able to hold the baby by herself since the accident that left her elbow dislocated.

“Morning snuggles with my girl. First time I’ve been able to hold her by myself in a week,” Cavallari wrote on Instagram, adding the hashtags “#GirlsTrip #LA.”

Saylor, who was born in November, wore a cute pink onesie and snuggled into her mother’s chest.

On Jan. 21, Cavallari, who also shares sons Camden Jack, 3, and Jaxon Wyatt, 20 months, with her husband, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, was hospitalized after she was hit by another driver in Chicago.

The incident follows a difficult period for the designer, as her brother Michael was found dead last month nearly two weeks after going missing in Utah.

It appears that some one-on-one time with her little girl was just what Cavallari needed.

3 kids under 3 – she’s crazy!

@StaceyMcRae, she’s clearly doesn’t understand how to use birth control effectively and none of the kids are vaccinated, either. Great combination.

She’s blessed to be able to pop out those babies quick!
So, the headline is missing the “…in a week” part. That missing tidbit makes the reality a little less dramatic.

Wow that baby has a lot of hair! I babysit for a 7 month old boy who still looks like Charlie Brown’s little brother, lol. Cute picture.

She needs to slow down. 3 kids especially at that age is too many. I wonder why she’s subjecting herself to this.

My comment won’t show

3 small ones and such close in age, yikes. Wonder why she is doing this. That’s too many. She needs to stop

Wow…the poor girl just lost her brother, then she’s in a car accident and all everyone can comment on is how close in age her children are. Maybe she planned it that way. Who knows? Who cares? I’m just glad the mother of those babies is alright. Bless her heart.

Bitter ladies. 3 kids under 3 is amazing. I had 4 in 6 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way, My kids are close together in age and its awesome.

My hubby and I are just turned 30 so we have the energy to give them all the love and attention they need. We have our priorities straight.

This baby has lots of hair.

Seriously, whether you like the girl or not, her brother just died and someone just smashed into her car. For anyone’s who’s actually had a dislocated joint…. It freakin hurts. It would suck not to be able to hold your new baby. If this series of events had happened to anyone commenting on this board, you’d be crying about your horrible few weeks and expecting sympathy. Get a grip.

Geez, I’m not a fan of hers but the poor thing has been through so much in the last couple of months.

Such an emotional picture…..a great mom moment!

I just don’t understand why it is necessary to go out of our way to be so negative? I cannot relate to Kristin in any way other than being a mom and if I could not hold my infant for any reason my heart would be broken. My thoughts are with her at this time.

People commenting on her number of kids and age spacing need to get out of her vagina. Not your biz.

3 kids under 3? no problem! Her husband puts on the bill!

Love the name Saylor! Cute name.

They need to lay that baby on her side to sleep. The back of her head is completely flat.

This poor woman has been thru the ringer! My heart breaks for her! I think holding your kids are the best medicine you could ever receive! Hugs to you Kristen! I’m so sorry you have had a rough 2 months! It can only get better from here. Love can heal all boo boo’s!

Yay an adorable picture.

@Nikki … there is practical reason to not have children so close together. One being the health of the mother. It’s quite dangerous. There is a commercial on TV about health professionals going to Africa to teach parents and mothers about better healthcare, including making sure women leave at least at a MINIMUM of 2 years between births.

I guess health professionals need to talk to American women as well.

I also read that a medical study was conducted and found if you have your children extremely close together, like 1 year apart, that that raises the risk of your children being diagnosed with autism.

She’s worried about vaccines based on lies. But her popping kids out 1 after the other could be more of a problem.

I don’t care about the number of kids, but enough about the ‘scary’ car accident. She dislocated her elbow. You’d think she was in a coma on life support the way they keep talking about it.
