Jena Malone is a mom-to-be!

The Hunger Games star, 31, announced Wednesday on Instagram that she’s expecting her first child, sharing a maternity photo taken by boyfriend and “beautiful hearted baby daddy” Ethan DeLorenzo.

“Womb to womb, To beating wing, I climbed out of the eternal, And into the shape of me,” Malone, 31, captioned the Polaroid of herself cradling her baby bump.

“Some words I wrote years ago when I was thinking about my own mother. And the woman she was when she had me. And the woman I was reaching to become,” she wrote.

“The shape your desires make out of you. The body you become to hold your dreams. It’s with two feet firmly on the ground and a heart swelling in an ocean of love that I’d like to share the new shape I am becoming to hold the greatest dream of them all. #babybump #newparents.”

Head over heels.

A baby daddy is nothing to be proud of and surely nothing to brag about.

Mrs. Winkler on

@ Stacey McRae Stop being so hateful! You have no idea what is going on in their world and certainly have no room to judge. PLEASE do NOT cast stones at a glass house my dear. Pending parenthood is an amazing feeling. McRae get a grip and grow up! Congratulations to the new parents…

Congrats to her and STFU to the people who wanna complain about her not being married and pregnant. Don’t need a piece of paper and a ring to be a great parent, it comes from the heart. Not everyone has to live by what a book says, as long as the child is cared for and loved by both parents. As I said before congrats to them.

Well said, Myob. Congrats to them!

“Baby Daddy. If she weren’t a movie actress she would be on welfare and food stamps like the million of other baby mamas in the USA”

Yes.. if everything about her were different she might be in a different situation.. what a stupid thing to say… I assure you an A list movie star will be able to provide monetarily for a baby.

We all know how married families always work out and produce the happiest kids… And I think she’s bragging about the fact that she’s going to be a mom and she’s excited and happy… how can you turn that into a negative thing?

I’ve liked her since she was young. She seems to be thrilled with her boyfriend and with impending motherhood. Congrats to them!

I was married to my daughter’s father and left him when she was 6 weeks old turns out he was an abusive drunk and drug addict, despite the money he had.
Met my soul mate two years later, 28 years later, blessed with 2 sons , the 5 of us were an incredible close family unit.
You don’t need to be married to raise a strong United family

Jena looks great in the picture.

Caroline, No. If she weren’t a movie star and financial in this situation and in one of welfare as you say (because those are the only two…eye rolls), maybe she wouldn’t have chose to have a baby.

Loved her on the hunger games! Very happy for her.

Oh please. Pardon me if I don’t get bubbly excited over another skanky actress embarking on baby mama hood. And glamorizing baby daddy nonsense. In 5 years she’ll have two more kids from different dads.

Jen on

Wow, really? I call my kids’ dad “baby daddy” all the time. We think it’s hilarious. Not a big deal at all. Blown way, way out of proportion. “Father of my children” sounds worse to us.

Sally on

OMG what a view in the mountain.

So happy for her!

Um Heather, I’m really curious about your definition of “Skanky.” Jena’s overcome a rough childhood, including homelessness and needing to seek legal emancipation from her mom before she was old enough to drive… all without becoming tabloid fodder. And now that she’s been in a loving relationship for a few years, she’s having her first child at 31.

I think the word you were looking for is responsible.
