Sorry Santa! Kelly Clarkson Shares Classic Christmas Photo of Daughter River Rose

12/24/2015 at 03:30 PM ET

Kelly Clarkson‘s daughter River Rose might be on the naughty list after this not-so-merry moment.

The expectant mom took to Instagram on Thursday to share a classic Christmas shot of her 18-month-old on Santa’s lap — and River was not too happy about it.

In the photo, Santa looks as jolly as his job calls for, while the soon-to-be big sister cries.

“So this happened….#RiverLovesSanta …is it wrong I slightly enjoyed this ha!” Clarkson, 33, captioned the photo.

While the photo might not be ideal, it’ll be another great one to add to their epic Christmas card collection.

Earlier this month, Clarkson shared the family’s Game of Thrones themed Christmas card on Instagram, sending fans into a flurry as they guessed that her use of the show’s tagline “winter is coming” might be a hint at her future baby’s name.

“Merry Christmas from the Blackstock clan! #gameofthrones #winteriscoming #riverisnotworried,” the singer captioned the picture.

Lol. Got one just like it this year with my 18-month-old! It’s kind of a rite of passage. Next year they’ll be all smiles. And, no, I don’t think this will psychologically damage the kids.

Young ones have pretty good instincts. She probably knows that it’s not the real Santa.

I truly don’t understand why people do this to their children. Babies and young children often have a fear of men who have beards. This is a known fact. You can have them take a picture next to a tree or any other Christmas object. No I don’t think as Lisa said they will be psychologically damaging to them but I just don’t understand why anyone would want to plop their kid down on a strangers lap and terrify them just for your own amusement and in the name of tradition.

I hate kids. Watching the bawl while parents try to coax them into smiling – knowing full well the rest of the year they tell their kids to never talk to a stranger except THIS ONE TIME WITH THIS ONE GUY – makes me laugh.
“Come on little Sophia Mia Olivia Ella Bella! Smile at the strange man who looks like he is going to take you away from your parents forever!”

At least she got her on his lap. My son literally fought, kicking and Poor baby, but she’ll get over it.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t force my child onto Santa’s lap if they were frightened of him but there is something amusing about these photos! Merry Christmas, Blackstock family!
