Glory Johnson Gives Update on Her Newborn Premature Twins: They’re ‘Doing Good!!!’

10/28/2015 at 04:00 PM ET

While her newborn twin daughters may have come a few months early, Glory Johnson is still overjoyed by motherhood — and keeping her fans constantly updated.

The 25-year-old WNBA star’s baby girls, Ava Simone and Solei Diem, entered the world on Oct. 12 at only 1 lb., 7 oz., each,  but were originally due in February.

In a new Instagram post, shared Wednesday, tiny Ava rests her head in a knit pink cap.

“The Babies are doing Good!!!” Johnson writes. “While sitting at the hospital, I find myself constant staring, trying to spot out any differences between Ava & Solei . . . In my last post, you can see that Solei’s hair is Very Dark, but I wonder what color Ava’s hair is going to be??? Black, Brown, or Blonde.”

The athlete, who took a season off during her pregnancy, added the hashtags “#MommyLovesYouSoMuch” “#KeepPraying” and “#KeepFighting.”

On Tuesday, Johnson shared a photo of Ava’s twin, who has a shock of dark brown hair.

Ava and Solei were conceived via in vitro fertilization with a donor’s sperm while Johnson was first married to fellow WNBA star Brittney Griner.

Griner filed for an annulment of the marriage just one day after Johnson announced the pregnancy in June. Her request was denied in August, however, and the two remain legally married.

Considering that all babies can be born with blue eyes or blonde hair when full term (genetics), being preemie the lack of color in their hair, skin, and eyes is a pigmentation thing and she will most definitely see lots of changes as they mature to the stage of which they should’ve actually been ready to be born. They have a lot of catching up to do. I don’t think she’ll stay blonde but it will obviously make precious keepsake photos. 🙂 I do find it weird that she posts odd closeups of the girls. Feet and hands are cute, even if scarily tiny or from awkward angles, but forehead and hair pics idk. It’s cute but really only the mom will truly LOVE them.
God Bless those girlies though. They do seem so strong for little babes.

I read somewhere that glory’s ex boyfriend was caucasion. That would explain the blond hair. did she really cheat on griner and that’s why griner wanted the annualment.

Here we go, Susan Soooooo you’re saying the white boyfriend that you heard about only fathered one of them? Smdh. Just stick to Congratulations. I know these Instagram fake journalist are lurking to be provocative. Have you ever thought maybe just maybe Glory Johnson was telling the truth? They mutually agreed to IVF, she had two separate eggs implanted as she has stated previously which fell on deaf ears. And just maybe two different sperm donors. See TRUTH isn’t as interesting. Griner story changes whenever it’s convenient. She is on YouTube during IVF procedures confessing to being daddy. Oops also saying she knew nothing about IVF procedures. Go figure!

Just because they have different hair colors/skin tones doesn’t mean their sperm donor/s are different. It is really none of anyone’s business how they were conceived or by who, that information is something only the children need to know.

First of all – no, all babies can’t be born blue eyes or blond hair. Genetically, many babies are born very dark. My first daughter (1/4 Greek) was born with black hair and dark brown eyes. And being preemie has nothing to do with one’s colouring. That is just a ridiculous statement. Secondly, it is not abnormal for siblings to look nothing alike. All 3 of my children have the same father (my husband). I have 2 girls – one has dark brown hair and brown eyes, the other has blond hair and blue eyes (my husband and I both have dark hair and eyes so she is a surprise). On top of that they look absolutely nothing alike, you wouldn’t even guess them as sisters. Siblings don’t have to look anything alike, there are a myriad of possible genetic combinations.

Okay so it’s ridiculous when a baby is born so early that their skin is nearly translucent to the point they look so red, veiny, or pale? It’s not pigmentation along with being premature? Okay, whatever you say Sara. And yes, all babies can be born with blue or grey eyes as well, because of the same reason. It settles or darkens it’s coloration in time.
What you described is exactly what I’m talking about. It is obviously held within genetics. Smdh

It looks like the donor is a Caucasian man, anyway congratulations on her twins.

In a recent Cosmopolitan article, she stated they picked a white blond, blue eyed man as the sperm donor so that would explain the coloring if they’re mixed. 1lb is really preemie so I hope they get stronger every day. don’t care about the other drama this couple is going through
