Brian Tee: My Newborn Daughter Is an ‘Old Soul’

10/23/2015 at 04:45 PM ET

Brian Tee‘s daughter Madelyn Skyler might only be 10 weeks old, but the actor believes she has a more mature presence.

“She’s already extremely patient,” Tee, 38, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “We feel like she is a really old soul and she’s been around the block a while, and is teaching us how to be parents.”

The Chicago Med actor describes Madelyn — nicknamed Brielly, a hybrid of his and wife Mirelly Taylor‘s names — as an “angel baby.”

“I guess every dad would imagine their daughter to be an angel baby, but I have to tell you that she’s an angel baby,” he says. “She’s definitely feisty and has her own mind, but she doesn’t necessarily cry.”

Madelyn is already picking her head up, and is getting too big for her newborn clothing.

“Some of her milestones are just growing out of clothes,” shares Tee. “We have this one piece of clothing, her first onesie, that she’s already grown out of, so we’re keeping it.”

As a first time parent, the Jurassic World star says the most surprising thing about having a baby is the amount of love he has for her.

“There’s no word to describe it,” he explains. “As soon as she was born, there was just this incredible overwhelming power of love that completely filled my existence.”

And even though he’s faced off against dinosaurs on-screen and is set to play villain Shredder in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, being a dad is his favorite role yet.

“I call it the greatest role I’ll ever have,” says Tee. “It’s definitely the most challenging, but the most rewarding.”

Why on earth people think they should make the decisions for others about what their babies should wear is beyond me. If you don’t like bows on babies, don’t put them on yours, but bows on babies heads is not an issue for more than a very few little ones. I haven’t seen any babies who seemed bothered by them, and they usually are just as content as this couple’s sweet little girl. They are a preference for some couples who want their baby girl to look as feminine as possible, so use them or don’t, but stop with the perpetual whining about what someone else puts on their baby unless the baby is actually in danger. Bows won’t put her at risk.

Why does she look so Chinese?

The bows are look very cute on her head.

@ Dido- did you see her father? He is clearly Asian and he has strong genes!

@Dido The baby doesn’t look Chinese but she looks Asian though since her father is also Asian as well (Father’s side is Japanese while Mother’s side is Korean). It seems that his daughter inherited his strong genes

Brielly is so adorable! I wonder if Brian and Madelyn will be exposing Brielly to another language. This new company, Smart Coos, http://smartcoos.com , states that it let’s parents teach kids at least two languages from birth. Brielly already has a bright future ahead of her. Giving Brielly the gift of language is one of the best gift a parent can give their child.
