Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter Name Son Christopher Carlton

The little Cumberbaby has a name!

Since welcoming their first child on June 1, actor Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter managed to keep their 3-month-old son‘s name under wraps — until now.

PEOPLE has confirmed the name of their newborn, Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch, and it’s perhaps the most dapper moniker of them all. Carlton is a family middle name that has been passed down, shared by both the actor, his father and now the new addition.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son, the rep said shortly after the birth. We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.

While the new parents remained private since the birth of Christopher, they have truly embraced parenthood, already enjoying their first post-baby date night.

The couple announced they were starting a family back in January, two months after Cumberbatch popped the question to Hunter. A baby on the way didn’t get in the way of their wedding planning though: They tied the knot shortly after on Valentines Day.

That is an amazing name. Super classic and will age well!
When he’s in a class with Bear, Blue, North and Moses, hopefully he won’t be teased for having a normal name 😉

They make a handsome couple.

Cute name; Triple C! Cute couple…although they look like they could be brother and sister.

Elegant; great for a little one, and for an adult, as well. I really like his acting; he also seems like a man who appreciates his family–both the new family, and the family of origin.

This was in the news days ago. What took so long to confirm it?

They look like twins.

Not surprised that these two picked a nice, normal name. They also announced their engagement the old-fashioned way, putting an engagement announcement in the paper just like us regular folks would do. These two are a class act!

What a classy name! I wish them and their baby a long, healthy, happy life together.

Ahh....normal name! on

C3! Cool, reminds me of C-3PO! Star Wars fans, perhaps?!

“Oh, yes, that’s very good, I like that… Oh! ” 😉

Real names for a change.Lucy Liu take note, you don’t give newborns a name that sounds like a town Iowa!

Great name, I hope the kid looks like his mom cuz his dad is just too hard to look at.

Usually I like nice and conventional names like Christopherr. But given that Benedict C. has one of the great quirky celeb names, I am a little disappointed he didn’t give his son a crazy name!
