Brian Tee Welcomes Daughter Madelyn Skyler

Brian Tee is entering into a whole new world: Parenthood!

The Jurassic World actor and his wife, actress Mirelly Taylor, welcomed their first child at 11:58 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in Los Angeles, his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Daughter Madelyn Skyler Tee was born weighing 6 lbs., 8 oz., and measured 19 inches long.

And although the couple chose their baby girl’s first name after searching for a moniker meaning “elegance, grace, leadership, power, strength and beauty,” they will call her Brielly (pronounced Bri-lee).

“We were actually thinking of naming her Brielly from inception. We loved it! So typical coming from two actors,” the proud new parents tell PEOPLE.

“But we thought better, dreaming of the day when she’s 13 years old, coming at us with a, ‘Really guys? … Really?! You really hybrid-ed your names and named me Brielly?’ So Madelyn Skyler (MadSky) was born and is the magical miracle of our lives.”

But her nickname isn’t the only way Brielly is taking after her famous father. “First thing we noticed is Madelyn has Daddy’s eyebrows,” the couple share.

Tee, 38, can next be seen as a series regular on NBC’s Chicago Med, premiering in November, and as Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, in theaters summer 2016. He can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Taylor recently wrapped three independent films.

They represent everything that can go wrong in naming a baby. Too many y’s, calling her a name totally not her own–awful. Poor kid.

Her real name is lovely. Why call her something completely different? Makes no sense.

So they’re going to call her a name that isn’t even in any of her names? And I hate to disappoint them but Brielly does not read as Bri-Lee, when I see it I read Bree-Ellie. Just weird all the way around.

I know a four year old girl named Brilee I love her and her name. Don’t know why the parents would name a kid one name but call her something totally different!

What a cute baby and lovely couple! and @Eveanna ?? its a much better name than “apple” , “blue ivy” , “north” etc and calling her a name not her own o.O you do know parents name their child right? lol

She is so cute. Asian babies are the cutest but then I’m partial as my sons were adopted from Korea. I too like her name. All the best. I would even send a baby gift if I had their address.

Okay, did anyone actually read the article? They explained EXACTLY why they are calling her a different name from her own!

Anyway, congrats to them!

Maybe she’s have a little boy soon and they can name him Aiden and call him Philip.
Give your kid the name you want them to be called, or give that for a middle name, or a second middle name but don’t give her a separate moniker. What does that say? You named her something you hated straight out of the (proverbial) box!
Such a sweet little face, whatever they call her.

Surprising couple, cute baby.

The wonderful thing about being a parent is they can name THEIR child whatever they want and can tell all the critics to go “F” themselves. Hahaha!
