Savannah Guthrie Makes Matt Lauer FaceTime with Her Daughter Every Morning

Savannah Guthrie is one proud mom — and for his sake, Matt Lauer better agree.

The Today show hosts stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday and exchanged funny stories about Guthrie’s daughter Vale, who will celebrate her first birthday in August.

“I see pictures [of Vale] every morning, [Savannah] comes on the set at 6:30 a.m.,” says Lauer. “We actually FaceTime with Vale at 6:45 every morning.”

“I’ll be like, ‘Look — here she is at the Stop & Shop!” jokes Guthrie, 43. “Isn’t that adorable?”

“Do you genuinely think it’s adorable?” host Seth Meyers asks Lauer.

“I smile and pretend it’s adorable!” quips Lauer, 57. “I go, ‘Oh my God, I can’t get enough of that! … Can we do promos please?!’ ”

We are staying up late for Seth! See you tonight

As for Lauer’s daily display of admiration, Guthrie admits he’s “not that good of an actor.”

All jokes aside, Lauer does acknowledge that Vale is an “adorable little girl.”

In one sweet picture shown on Late Night, Vale is sitting in a shopping cart — you guessed it, at the Stop & Shop.

“Everyone’s like, ‘You put your kid in that? Those are so dirty!’ ” says Guthrie. “I’m like, ‘My kid licked that whole area right there,’ ” she adds, pointing to the cart’s handle.

“She’s building immunity!” jokes the first-time mom.
