Ashley Williams: Why I’m ‘Really Relieved’ to Have Only One Child

07/14/2015 at 01:50 PM ET

Ashley Williams might need to invest in more baby-proofing now that her 9-month-old is crawling.

The new mom jokes that she’s being kept on her toes by son Gus, who has learned to cruise around on the carpet — and detect anything that could be considered dangerous.

“If you need to know where the electrical cords are in a room, he’ll find them for you,” she told PEOPLE at the Ant-Man screening hosted by The Cinema Society and Audi in New York City on Monday.

“He just goes right to them. I think we could put him in security at the airport and if there’s something dangerous, he’ll find it.”

Williams, 36, is also learning the role of being a mom of five for her new comedy series, The Jim Gaffigan Show, playing Gaffigan’s wife.

“I have to say, having played the mother of five children, I’m really relieved to only have one. It’s super fun, but it’s a lot,” she admits.

But Williams has a veteran supporter on her side: Jim Gaffigan‘s wife Jeannie.

“I was totally scared because I’m playing a real-life woman who is standing like three feet away from me, watching me,” Williams explains.

“And what I learned is, she is incentivized to make me look good because I’m representing her. She’ll come up and be like, ‘Stop using your hands!’ because she didn’t want me looking like an idiot. I’ve never had someone so completely have my back, so that was so cool.”

The Jim Gaffigan Show premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on TV Land.

She’s amazing. Loved her on 2004’s Snow and its sequel.

PEOPLE, this baby has TWO parents! Why no mention of his father (who is Ashley’s husband, btw)?! Anyway, I wonder if she really is “one and done” or if she’ll change her mind?

She played Victoria as Ted Mosby’s love interest on How I Met Your Mother.

She’s the sister of Kimberly Williams-Paisley from Father of the Bride. Ashley does a lot of guest spots and short arcs on series (like Warehouse 13) and has starred in several Christmas movies like Snow and Snow2 : Brain Freeze.
