Tia Mowry-Hardrict: Tamera’s Giving Me Baby Fever!

04/12/2015 at 03:50 PM ET

Tia Mowry-Hardrict has a case of “baby fever,” even though it’s sister Tamera Mowry-Housley who’s about to give birth.

“Oh my God, I am so excited. We just had the baby shower and it was so beautiful, she looks great. I got her tutus,” the actress, 36, told PEOPLE at Saturday night’s TV Land Awards.

“But she has so much energy,” she added. “We’re really excited to have a girl come into the family because we have two boys. She’s going to be so spoiled. I can’t wait — it’s definitely giving me baby fever. I think, ‘Okay, maybe I can do this again.’ ”

It wasn’t any one thing, she said, that let them know a girl was coming into the family. It was the lack of things.

Mowry-Housley “wasn’t as tired,” her twin tells PEOPLE. “She didn’t have morning sickness or the fatigue from having a boy. They say having a boy drains you and sucks everything out of you.”

Mowry-Hardrict said she can’t wait to be an aunt to a baby girl. At the same time …

“Girls are hard. They’re very hard,” she said. “I love my son. I hear the relationship between mommy and son is the best. Who knows? My husband wants a girl, he really does.”

If and when their family grows again, Mowry-Hardrict said she’ll have some new tricks to share from raising her 3½-year-old son Cree Taylor.

“I found this deer toy that poops out candy. And so if I say, ‘Cree, you have to go to bed right now, you will get a candy.’ We’ve named the pooping deer ‘Gus.’ … He gets a jelly bean. And it works,” she said. “Positive reinforcement is the way to go. I’m learning things like that which help me be a better parent.”

Right, give the kid candy instead of dealing with him. SMH! That’s the problem with kids/parents today!

It worked for Penny on BBT. 😉

Is she a parent or a friend. I know the type of “toy” she’s referring to, but she apparently needs to tell the kid more firmly that it’s time for bed. I really don’t think parents need any advice from her.

I had energy with both my boys, and not a touch of nausea. No real way to know without an ultrasound (and sometimes, even then…)

She says it’s all about “positive reinforcement”…I think she means it’s all about “bribery”…..promising your child candy for doing something they’re supposed to do like going to bed is NOT “positive reinforcement”…parents needs to learn they they’re the boss NOT the child, your child should not rule the roost……learn to be their parent and instead of trying to be their BFF!!!

The word she is looking for is BRIBERY. Positive reinforcement is rewarding a desired behavior AFTER it’s done. Giving the reward BEFORE in an effort to encourage the desired behavior is bribery.

Parent any way you choose but don’t try to call it something it’s clearly not.

OK, you women on here that are being super judgemental, guess what…. You aren’t that little boys mother, she is! What she is doing is no different than what parents do when it’s time to potty train their child! Sometimes it is hard for children to go to bed and that does give them that little push. Every parent has done it at least one time. She said she’s still learning so back off!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was tired but didn’t have any morning sickness. I knew that I was having a boy when I was pregnant the second time because I was so sick.

Wow!!! It seems like some people hang out on these blogs just to pounce at people and tell them what they are doing wrong. Anyone gets her drift whether she uses the correct terminology or not. Parents pick their battle. She’s decided bedtime is something she approaches differently. Give her a break! Tia is a very loving mother to her son!

She sends a kid to bed with unbrushed teeth ? Great parenting

@Megan, she never said anything about teeth at all. Better yet, she didn’t even mention a bed time routine, not that she had to. Calm down, it isn’t that serious!

Anyone else think it’s sweet that her husband wants a girl. Also, I wonder why PEOPLE didn’t list Cree’s age (he’s three, btw)? They usually always do that with celeb kids.

Megan on

BeMore, she clearly said “And so if I say, ‘Cree, you have to go to bed right now, you will get a candy.’”
