Milla Jovovich Welcomes Daughter Dashiel

Milla Jovovich is a mom — again!

The Resident Evil actress, 39, and her husband, director and producer Paul W.S. Anderson, 50, welcomed their second child at 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“We are so proud to announce the birth of Dashiel Edan Jovovich-Anderson to the world today,” Jovovich wrote on Instagram. “She is 7 lbs., 10 oz. and 20 inches long. We love you Dash!”

“Milla, her husband Paul and big sister Ever are overjoyed to welcome Dashiel Edan into their family and are all spending some quality bonding time together,” the rep says. “Both mama and baby are doing great.”

The new parents — who announced the pregnancy in August — aren’t the only ones elated over their baby girl’s arrival: Big sister Ever Gabo, 7, was thrilled to learn she was getting a sibling.

“We’re actually having a girl, so she’s so excited,” the mom-to-be told PEOPLE in October.

Although the couple didn’t go with Toilet Bowl, the name their daughter had originally suggested, Jovovich revealed that Ever eventually did pick out her sister’s name — though admitted “Cinderella” may have been more appropriate.

“[Ever]’s like, ‘We don’t need to buy her anything, Mama. She can just wear all of my old clothes,’ ” the actress, who debuted her baby belly in September, joked to PEOPLE. “I’m like, ‘Well, but she needs something new of her own.’ ‘No. No. No. No. She doesn’t need anything. She can just wear my old stuff.’ ”

E! News was first to report the birth.

Dashiel??? Really?? Horrible name for a girl. Why not something feminine and pretty?

Really? on

Ummm…..Casey isn’t exactly an impressive name. Unisex and boring. Bye.

DaisyMoon on

Poor kid…what a terrible, terrible name.

mer on

I love the name for a girl!

Casey on

@ Really…classy. This is an opinion board, so I’m entitled to mine, grow up. Also, I didn’t pick my name obviously, but at least it’s unisex and not straight up male.

linda on

It is a boy’s name and mean’s “page boy.”

CB on

@Casey, you may be entitled to your opinion but is it really necessary. The baby isn;t even a day old and already she’s receiving criticism from people like you. I wonder how many people give your parents crap for naming you Casey. I also can’t stand when people accuse others of not being classy. Such a tacky term but since you used it, would you consider yourself classy for having anything other than congratulations to offer to new parents? Get some manners girl / boy or whatever you are.

lola on

@Casey… Did you think that your original post was classy?!! Really? Well, it wasn’t. Casey isn’t femine nor pretty, so not sure what your point was.

Dashiel sounds more like a boy’s name and their other daughter Ever has a popular Scottish boys name. So I guess they don’t want anything too girly. I like the middle name Eden though. Bet they are going to be wonderful parents. I am very happy for them.

Some might think I’m crazy but I like the name for a boy or a girl.

I actually quite like this name for a girl, though personally would probably spell it Dashielle. I like that they think of interesting names for their girls. Congratulations to Milla, Paul and Ever, and welcome baby Dashiel x

Congrats to Milla and Paul! They’re a beautiful couple. However, Dashiell? It’s certainly none of my business, but what’s with all the girls being given boys’ names. So, next time there’ll be a boy named Mila and a girl named Paul?

I like both of their girls names. Unique and cute! Not too over the top or ridiculous.

Congrats on the new addition! She is lovely, and i really like the name too, even for a girl 🙂

I agree it’s not the prettiest name for a girl but she is just precious!

@ CB, lola, and Really?, all of you lack reading comprehension. Where in my comment did I say that my name was feminine and pretty? I didn’t. I said “Why not something feminine and pretty?” My point being (Lola, and I’ll say this slowly so you can understand) is that those are the names for girls that I find most adorable. I never said a thing about comparing it to my name, or holding my name on some pedestal. And @ CB…boy, girl, or whatever YOU are, isn’t it just a shame that it matters to no one what you can and can’t stand. Get over yourself.

Happy Birthday and Welcome Dash

@ CB, lola, and Really?, you all lack reading comprehension. Where in my comment did I say my name was feminine and pretty? I didn’t, I said “Why not something feminine and pretty?” My point being (lola, and I’ll say this slowly so you can understand) is that those are the names for little girls that I find most adorable. I wasn’t comparing my name to that or holding it on some pedestal so all of you can relax. And CB, boy, girl, whatever YOU are, isn’t it just a shame that no one cares what you can and can’t stand? lol
Victoria, Rudy, and DaisyMoon….I completely agree!

Gawd, why do people have to be so flippin’ RUDE? She’s not YOUR baby and if HER parents like the name, great! YOU can name YOUR baby whatever you like. Congratulations to the happy parents on their new addition to their family!

I love Ever and I was really looking forward to hearing their second baby’s name – they haven’t disappointed. I love Dashiell for a boy, had never considered it for a girl. But it’s lovely. Dasha will be an awesome nn if they like it 🙂

Love the name Dashiel! Very unique.

Congratulations on Paul’s new addition.

Dashiell on

I’m a girl.

My mum picked my name because she thought it sounded too pretty to be a boys name. She pronounces it Dasheel. Dash is an awesome nickname to have. I’ve never met another Dashiell, not like meeting four Matt’s or Alex’s or Sarah’s in a row. I wouldn’t trade my name for anything… lucky you didn’t have to be called such a “horrible” name huh?
