Rachel Bilson‘s heart just grew: she’s a mom!

The Hart of Dixie actress and her longtime love, actor Hayden Christensen, welcomed their first child, daughter Briar Rose Christensen, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“Both mother and baby are healthy and doing well,” her rep says in a statement.

Rumors that Bilson was pregnant began in April, after she was spotted sporting a bikini while enjoying a beach break in Cancun.

In May, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that she and Christensen — whom she met on the set of Jumper in 2011 — were expecting a baby, days before Bilson showed off her growing bump in Barbados.

Although the parents-to-be have stayed mum on their expanding family, PEOPLE confirmed in July that the couple, both 33, would be welcoming a daughter.

Briar Rose as in Sleeping Beauty? Anyways it’s still a beautiful name 🙂

808momof3 on

Aww. They named her after Sleeping Beauty.

Erica on

Sooo cute, with the last name Christensen Briar Rose sounds even more like a fairy tale! Love Rachel Bilson, I hope she looks and dresses just like her 🙂

klutzy_girl on

I love the name! Congratulations to them.

Happy Fan on

Congratulations! Love the name!

Erica on

Lovely name! Rachel Bilson is so beautiful.

Anonymous on

They definitely met way before 2011.

Angie on

Jumper came out in 2008…

charlotte on

Congratulations on the new addition. I really like the name too! Not too over the top 🙂

Anonymous on

Jumper is from 2008

Cris on

poor baby with a fairy tale name. They had 9 months and that’s the best they could do? It’s sorta fitting for two beautiful people who are extremely boring.

dysturbed on

Jumper came out in 2008 so they likely met in 2007 not 2011 like the article says. I’m sure they’ll edit that mistake as some point. No biggie.

Tisha on

Did they name their baby after sleeping beauty?? My grandson wanted to name is new baby sister Tinkerbell, so I guess Disney names are in…thank God my daughter went went with the name Brielle Marie… I couldn’t imagine going through life as Tinkerbell!

Gina on

Briar Rose is one the cutest name for a little girl! I bet she’s beautiful! Congrats!

sasharose on

Lovely name!!

Love the name unique but not weird. I can’t wait for a picture. I will bet she is adorable.

Very pretty. Wish Disney fan Holly Madison would have picked Briar Rose instead of Rainbow Aurora Rotella

Anonymous on

What an adorable and unique name. I hope this baby looks like Rachel because she’s so darn pretty. Sure hope we get a little glimpse of Briar now and then.

csudh1486 on

Aww…babies, babies, babies

Andrea on

What an adorable and unique name. It’s not too far out there. Hope she’s as pretty as her mom. And I hope we can get a glimpse of Briar Rose every now and again.

I’m Standing Right Behind You on

Loving the name..

This may be WAY off topic, but isn’t this a sham/beard relationship? I can’t be the only one who’s heard that.

guest on

LOL hey people, Jumper was released in 2008…

Katie on

Love it! Love you, Hayden!

vera on

I still feel that name is a little weird. These Hollywood people are coming up with unusual names like Apple, Bronx, North, ,Scout. and so on. I guess they want to be different although it is sort of pretty. Good Luck to the New family.xxxxxx

Jennifer on

I love the name. Congrats to them on their new princess, Briar Rose.

Jay on

Beautiful name–congratulations!

mrmg on

Briar Rose is the name of the Projects in my city… LOL

juliet on

I think the name Briar is GREAT but unfortunately it will be misspelled or mis-seen as “Brian” (!) or “Bria” and people will want to spell it Brier.

At least no one will call her “Friar” and let’s hope they don’t call her “Liar.”

Middle name is a loser — way way way too common. I bet it’s in the top 5 most common middle names, along with Ann, Marie, Lynn….

Guest on

Sleeping Beauty?

Taylor on

She has a complete fairytale name! I do like the “Briar Rose” combo, but if she just went by “Briar,” I’m not sure how I feel about that first name.

Mo-Jo on

Sweet, sweet name ❤

killjoy on

All things Disney seem unfortunate. He was a bigoted control freak and even after his death the destructive sexual stereotypes abound. And Disneyland and Disney World? Can you spell environmental anathema??? (well, probably you can’t).

A beautiful couple, congratulations to them on their healthy baby. Always interesting to see celeb name choices. Briar definition: “Any of a number of prickly scrambling shrubs.” Sounds pretty though!

Candy on

What a sweet name! I bet she’s adorable.

guest on

Too many r’s…sounds like a noise a tiger makes…don’t like it at all. All I can think of is Tony the Tiger on Frosted Flakes commercial.

Lisa on

That is wonderful news. I am sure the baby will be adorable!

Destiny on

Such a beautiful name for a now beautiful family. Good luck to them 😀

alohamom on

Happy for the couple but hope the new papa will be much more engaging with his child than he is with us “peasants.” Saw him a few years back at LAX in the departure lounge. Casually pointed him out to my then 10 year old who worshiped Anakin Skywalker. Christenson noticed me and returned the most vile stare (if looks could kill.), and he held that stare for several minutes. Never approached him or tried to make verbal contact. In that moment I decided the guy was an absolute douche with the personality of a wet noodle. Just my opinion based that one experience.

Susan on

Pretty name if it is said Briar Rose. By itself it is harsh, but maybe they like that. Plus, I love Disney.

Luke Hemmings on

Congrats on your new daughter- Luke Hemmings

Carrie on

Trying not to make a snarky Sleeping Beauty joke.

Tanja on

2014 is def.the year of celebrity daughters. Gosh.^^

Congrats to the two.I bet the baby is beautiful! 🙂

jean on

Lovely. Now please get married. If they’re good enough to make a baby with they’re good enough to marry.

Jumper was released in 2008, not 2011.

Sarah on

They named her after Sleeping Beauty….huh. Clearly lots of OUAT and Disney while she was pregnant!

Amy on

I like it, I think it’s a very pretty name.

sabrinafaire1978 on

I’m glad mom and baby are healthy and now can we please get on to the next season of Hart of Dixie??

Congratulations, Rachel Bilson! Briar Rose is a perfect name for a daughter and something that I would consider naming my first girl. Rachel is a sexy, sweet, and superstar. Well done, Rachel!

Andrew Moser on

What a beautiful name for a girl1 Rachel Bilson picked a fabulous name in Briar Rose, and I admire that choice. I love watching Rachel Bilson on television, and I wish her fabulous success. Rachel Bilson is a beautiful, gorgeous, and wonderful young lady as well as a superstar. #iloverachelbilson

Shawna on

My friend named her daughter Briar and it is an adorable name!

LC on

Jumper was filmed in 2008

Tilly on

Maybe it’s not a sleeping beauty connection at all. Perhaps it’s simply a nod to the beautiful, fragrant Eglantine Rose? Either way it’s a pretty, feminine name that’s let’s face it, a lot better than many celeb parents usually give. I personally love it!

Anonymous on

Congrats to them, and I love the name!

Ashley on

To Juliet: ROSE is the pretty part of the name, Briar is very odd….not a name at all. At least not a good one.

Storm on

Thing is, it is always going to look like “Brian” when written down, which is really just unfortunate. And Rose is so overused. Also, why does Hayden look like a 12 year old in the above picture? It looks like Rachel is babysitting him.

Sally on

I love the name…but why are so many of you talking about Disney??? The fairy tale is much much much older and so is the name Briar Rose.

Niko on

How the heck is Rachel Bilson is 33 years old?? She doesn’t look a day older than 25, IMO. Anyway, I wish her and Hayden congrats on their baby daughter, Briar. Cute, unique name.

Hea on

What does Disney have to do with this? Do you think Disney wrote the story?

Katie on

Not liking the name. Briar patch on Disney’s splash mountain!

mommytoane on

Disney didn’t come up with “Briar Rose” The Brothers Grimm did. Either way, its a sweet and enchanted name. Congrats on the birth of a healthy little girl.

SimplyPut on

hmmm interesting… No comments on them NOT being married.

Anonymous on

Briar Rose Christensen is kind of pretty, but I really don’t like the name Briar

Paula on

Congrats to the happy family!

Jen on

A Sleeping Beauty, love it  Congrats to them.

Lili on

Love the first name but yes with it having rose at the end is very Disney, who knows it may of been Rachael’s fav story as a child? Congrats to them

Anonymous on

So happy for them! Congrats.

Jo on

Aw I love that name! Was going to use it if our 2nd was a girl

toni on

I find it odd that people mag would call him her long time love, when they’ve only known eachother for 3 years….that’s not long at all!

Jenny on

A big Hayden fan — but not a big Rachel fan! The baby is adorable! I thought I might be jealous of Rachel (and who would not be), but I think she’s a little more public about some things than she should be. I always thought Hayden and Natalie were a way cuter couple! I also think it’s weird that it is now 2017 and these two are still not married. I’m not aversed to couples living together before marriage, but I thought they were so in love? Things may not always be what they seem.
