Eva Amurri Martino (and Her Bump!) Wow on the Red Carpet

07/01/2014 at 10:00 AM ET

Not long ago, Eva Amurri Martino admitted she was still learning how to dress up her bump. But after spotting her at Monday night’s premiere of Tammy, it’s pretty clear she’s a quick study.

The mom-to-be, who is expecting a daughter, walked the red carpet in a brightly patterned mini dress that hugged all her curves — including her growing baby belly!

And although it’s hard to believe, her chic frock (we love the colorful design!) isn’t from the maternity department.

“Getting super pumped for the #Tammy premiere tonight with @SusanSarandon! I will be wearing the last dress I own that fits my belly,” Amurri Martino Tweeted before the event.

All that matters is that the actress’s entire ensemble, including her hot pink clutch and Vince Camuto Pikora Heels ($210), were a big hit with husband Kyle Martino. “#babygirlmartino’s first red carpet. Who wore it better?” he joked on Instagram, sharing a snapshot of his wife giving an interview.

The couple were on hand to support Amurri Martino’s mother Susan Sarandon, who stars in the comedy alongside Melissa McCarthy.

“#BabyGirlMartino is really excited too to see her Honey in a movie!” she Tweeted. “Well … more like hear her. Hiccups will count as laughs.”

She’s got the same body style as my sister – tall and slim; probably only looks pregnant in profile. Straight on and from behind, my sister didn’t look pregnant at all with either of her kids. Only in profile, then BAM! All belly.

She hasn’t any maternity dresses? She looks fab. But it’s a bit odd that she hasn’t bought a few hip dresses for the pregnancy.

She looks great, but that dress is HIDEOUS.

Unfortunately, maternity wear is a necessary evil. Yes, you don’t get the wear out of it, fashions change, etc. But if she is saying she has no dresses that fir, and she still has some time to go, then it is time to get some stuff that does fit. You don’t wear your wedding dress again but you buy it. This is this same thing. I’m 5’11” and slim. I had low rise jeans so they fit under my belly no problem but I did have to buy shirts at some point for the belly.

Ahhh

I’m 7.5 months pregnant and holding on to wearing my old dresses for dear life….they are being stretched to limits, but I will do anything not to buy ugly maternity clothes…Eva looks great I love the dress!

Lol though I totally get the analogy, comparing a wedding dress to maternity clothes is still a bit odd to me. Generally you wear a wedding dress one time and that’s it, while maternity clothes can be worn many times throughout a pregnancy and used for other pregnancies down the road. I am six feet tall and slender and really have to buy much clothing to accomodate my pregnancy until the last 3 months and most of it consisted of bigger shirts and maxi dresses, yoga pants with the fold over waists, and sweatpants that has drawstrings around the waist to adjust them as needed. There’s nothing wrong with wearing your regular clothes if you are still able to, buying bigger sizes in regular clothing or just buying maternity clothing. Each pregnancy is an individual journey for expectant mothers and there’s no right or wrong in any of those options :) Eva is glowing and looks absolutely beautiful pregnant…wishing her all the best 💜

*really didn’t have to buy

The word “bump” in reference to a woman’s pregnancy should be outlawed. It’s classless and tacky.

The dress is by one of my favorite designers.. Mara Hoffman.
She looks amazing!
