Halle Berry Is ‘Healthy and Happy’ – and Not Worrying About Postpartum Pounds

Halle Berry is still basking in baby bliss since the arrival of her sonMaceo-Robert.

“[He’s] perfect, just perfect. More love, more joy — having a new baby in your family brings that,” the actress, 47, told PEOPLE at Saturday’s 21st annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles.

But the sudden surge of love in her life is balanced out by Berry’s need for a good night’s rest.

“[A new baby means] less sleep,” she says. “And I’m working on the TV show, [Extant]. It’s a new grind, it’s a new rhythm. We’re trying to get used to that. We’re managing.”

One thing the new mom has already gotten used to? Her body after baby.

“I’m healthy and that’s really good. When you’re nursing you can’t really diet because you have to keep producing milk,” Berry, also mom to 6-year-old daughter Nahla, explains.

“Listen, I’m healthy and I’m happy and that’s all that matters.”

As for the advice she’d give to former costar — and new dad — Bruce Willis, Berry jokes, “Well, I’m nursing right now. I don’t think he’s nursing himself so I don’t know what I could tell him.”

Of course that’s all that matters and I’m glad she recognizes that instead of clamoring to lose weight, which I think is insane.

Finally, one of them talks about how dieting and nursing are not compatible, and she isn’t talking about her AWESOME trainer or the eating plan that’s making the weight just MELT away.

i think it is ma-chay-o
well, this is an interview conversation where I actually kind of like what she said. I think she realized she needed to step away from the magazine people, etc, because people were really starting to dislike her for all the crap that came out of her mouth. Plus the friction with her ex made her look kind of heartless. But I am not going to judge her on that because break ups can bring out the worst in people and no one really knows what actually went on.

Poor little boy. Enjoy mommy dearest now while she’s pleasant because before long, she’s going to start slinging all kinds of accusations against your daddy and things won’t be pretty. That’s just what she does!

How nice to hear someone say they are breastfeeding and then not hear how it just helps the weight fall right off. I breastfed all 4 of mine for a year each and I never saw the weight just melt off. After they were weaned I would reduce my calorie intake to lose weight but when I was supposed to be producing milk I was always worried about reducing calories also reducing my milk supply. A relative of mine was so sure that dieting and breastfeeding would help her lose weight but instead it just made her put her son on formula. I know this method works for plenty of women, but it never worked for me. I am not denying someone else’s results. I am just saying that I never breastfed and lost weight other than the normal pounds lost after delivery.

She’s diabetic so she has to always be careful. I’m glad she is healthy. The other stuff I won’t comment on.

I’m happy to hear that, like me, Halle Berry is nursing instead of “breastfeeding”. That has to be the silliest, most redundant term ever. LOL

Halle got it all with a new beautiful baby boy and a hot French husband. Lucky, lucky woman.

It’s pronounced MA-say-oh

Olivier and Halle were everywhere before Maceo-Robert was born. Now, I don’t think I’ve seen them together.
