Tony Parker has plenty of reasons to celebrate!

The San Antonio Spurs player, 31, and fiancée Axelle Francine welcomed their first child on Wednesday, April 30, a spokesperson for the team confirms.

Son Josh was born hours before his basketball player dad helped the Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks 109-103 in Game 5 of the playoffs.

“He was really excited before the game. Obviously, he was really excited to have his son here and wanted to get this game really badly, not only for his son but for the situation and the timing of it,” Spurs forward Tim Duncan said.

In October, Parker announced he was expecting a son with Francine, a French journalist.

“Hey just wanted to say that I’m very happy today … me and my future wife going to have a baby boy!!!!” Parker Tweeted at the time.

Congrats, nice name, Josh.

bitsy on

would be nice to hear about “so and so and their HUSBAND/WIFE” welcomed a child instead of “FIANCEE”

Do like the name however.

LC on

Why was he at the game right after the baby was born?

Amber on

@ LC, yes, the baby was born a couple of hours before the game.

Go Spurs Go!

Mrs. Walker on

Wow he got over Eva pretty quickly!

Akita on

Guess he moved …Good thing

Lucy on

I’m surprised Eva wasn’t mentioned in the article as being his ex. You know it’s the only reason this announcement is on here.

Akita on

his fiancé is one very pretty woman

Lilly on

I don’t like Tony Parker! But who cares, right? The baby’s here, so celebrate!!

janie on

Congrats to both!!

@ Mrs Walker Eva & Tony separated in 2009, divorced in 2010, and he started dating Axelle in 2011… not exactly “quickly” seeing as we’re 1/3 of the way through 2014

Callie on

Good for him. He looks nice and happy. She is beautiful. Love the baby name too. So glad he got rid of Eva, she sucks

Congratulations Tony & Axelle on the birth of baby Josh!

Carrow on

It’s silly to say but that should be Eva’s baby with him.

@bitsy: Unfortunately, it’s none of your business.

Congrats to him and his family!

Melissa on

I’m surprised! I didn’t even know that he had a new fiancee before!

Vila on

Didn’t know he has a new woman. He was with Eva not too long ago.

Anonymous on

Vila- Actually, it’s been about five years since he’s been with Eva (they seperated in 2009, as another poster said, and then divorced the following year).

Anyway, congrats to them! I don’t know why he felt he had to leave his son just hours after his birth to play a game, though. Surely he could have taken paternity leave!

The Spurs are in the middle of a playoff series with the Mavericks and have a very high chance of making it to the finals. Tony Parker is one of the “Big 3″… along with Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili so him being at the game is considered crucial. In fact, he was the leading scorer for the Spurs in this particular game.

Manu and his wife just welcomed a new baby about 10 days ago and he was with her in the early morning during the delivery, then left a few hours later for practice. Coach Pop would have given both time off but Tim, Tony and Manu just don’t miss games… especially during playoffs.

Congrats to Tony and Axelle!

CHEATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

@tsveti, this is why Eva should have been with her man in Texas, and not trying to be a celebrity in Hollywood! When a woman takes care of her husband, there is no reason to stray. And besides, there was never proof (other than the “TEXT” messages Eva claims to have found) that tony cheated. It totally blame Eva for their divorce. And she had no urgency to try and “fix” the marriage. She jumped out of it as quickly as possible! I love Tony, and he looks happy with his “low key” girlfriend. Eva was too high maintenance for him! Congrats to Tony and Axelle, and their baby boy Joshy!!

And to all those claiming that he moved on quickly after Eva, that isn’t true! At least he’s had less partners than she has…..
What # is Eva on already….????

Tamagura on

Congratulations! The best part is Tony Parker did not take time off to do Daddy duty like other professional athletes have done recently. I had never heard of that happening until the past few years. Can you imagine a Boston Celtic, NY Knick, LA Laker or Chicago Bull excusing himself from a ballgame because his wife was giving birth? I miss the real men of sports. Where have they gone?

jane on

Congrats to Tony!! I am very happy for you, you deserve it after the slander Eva spread about you. well it seems like God knows better since you have a beautiful fiance, and a healthy baby boy, successful career… what does she have…?? that shows me who the good person is here… she will stay a miserable hag… while you celebrate the good life God rewarded you with!! Good luck !!

debbie on

He looks uncomfortable next her, LOL, WOW…
I see this lasting long.. NOT, and Eva was a million times hotter than her,,,,, Well sucks to be you TONY!!!!
