Connie Britton: My Son Is Learning ‘How to Treat Women’

Connie Britton might have a real cowboy Casanova on her hands!

The Nashville star was recently named a Goodwill Ambassador for poverty eradication and women’s empowerment by the United Nations, and has no fears that her 3-year-old son will help her pave the way.

“Oh my gosh, he’s surrounded by loudmouthed women all the time. He’s always learning about women,” Britton jokes to┬áPEOPLE of teaching her son Yoby about female empowerment.

“I am actually really proud, I think he’s going to grow up with a real strong sense of how to treat women because he’s around them so much — especially powerful, strong women.”

Motherhood’s biggest surprise since the 47-year-old actress adopted her son from Ethiopia in 2011, has been, well, that there are constantly surprises.

“Parenthood is surprising. There are surprises every day, which surprised me in itself,” says Britton. “People always say, ‘Parenting requires patience,’ and I heard that and I thought I understood why, but I had no idea really why I needed to be patient.”

But it didn’t take long for Britton’s patience to be put to the test. “I finally found out: it’s because kids are SO SLOW,” she explains. “Everything they do is slow, so that’s why everyone always told me I would need patience.”

Don’t get her wrong, Britton loves every minute of it. “My son wants to try everything, and I love that, but he’s young so everything he does is slow. I just have to watch and wait for him to finish each thing.”

One thing that isn’t slowing down for Britton? Her exciting career.

OF COURSE Tami Taylor is teaching her son values and respect!! :)

Yoby is strikingly handsome! He should be taught how to treat a lady, bravo to her! Those darn kids can be annoyingly sloooow but we love them nevertheless!!!

She should teach him that women should not be treated any differently than men. Women should have equal rights, treatment and pay. We should treat men and women with equal kindness and respect. No special treatment for women or men in all areas would create true equality.

Only one thing women want to be treated to and that is SHOPPING!

Agree with Jack!! mutual respect is fundamental! women should be less demanding, men should be more understanding!

@Pat

That’s really sexist and gross.

She should teach him how to please women!

Maybe you should be warning your son about evil manipulating demanding and cruel women who are users and takers and think the world owes them. He shouldn’t give his heart away until he knows who he’s giving it to. It’s men who’ve told me how they feel about women.

I have LOVED Connie Britton, since her days as Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights. So happy for her, finding joy in her life with the adoption of her son. My three adult sons are my life, and remain the BEST thing I ever did! Glad to hear Connie is teaching her son to have respect for others, too often kids are not taught that at home, I substitute teach, and the children I encounter are consistently disrespectful and disobedient. I wish there were more parents like Connie!
