There’s a baby on the way for Megan Hilty.

The former Sean Saves the World and Smash star and husband Brian Gallagher are expecting their first child in September, Hilty’s rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple also shared their happy news via Twitter on Saturday morning.

“Two years ago today I met the man of my dreams and now we’re proud to announce we’re starting a family,” Hilty, 33, writes.

Add Gallagher, “Yup! Working on a new project w/ @meganhilty! It’s been in development for months now [and] is due in September! Working title: #GallagherBaby!”

Hilty and Gallagher, 34, who is also an actor, met in a fitness class when they were both on Broadway.

The couple wed last November at the Venetian chapel in Las Vegas.

“We were so excited to be married that we skipped the engagement altogether!” Hilty told PEOPLE at the time.

Congrats to them!

Congratulations to them. It’s refreshing to see a couple already married before getting pregnant. This is a rarity in Hollywood these days.

That’s so awesome! I loved Megan in Smash, she has an amazing voice. Congrats to her and Brian, they’re going to be great parents.

Today is also Megan Hilty’s 33rd birthday so this makes it a very joyous occasion.

Rhonda, you and all the bible-thumpers pushing marriage just confuse me with your hypocrisy.

All that matters to you people is a marriage certificate.

Two people who have a shotgun wedding after 3 weeks before having a kid? sound good? they’re married, right? That therefore makes them better than an unmarried couple who’s been together 5+ years who have decided to have a kid?

Here’s the reality. Two people can be good parents as long as they are committed to the child. They don’t even need to be committed to each other, as it’s true that divorced parents can do an excellent job as parents, too. A piece of paper will NOT make you a good parent, and it will NOT make your marriage last (and in fact, 1 in 2 marriages do NOT last). Parents come in all shapes and sizes. Also, side FYI — gay parents are just as good as straight parents.

You people are full of it and behind the times, and you need to keep your judgemental and sanctimonious mouths shut. It doesn’t matter whether parents are married or not. What matters is that they are good parents to their children. So STFU.

Congrats to them!

But, I must say I find it hilarious that all the people who say “at least they’re married” aren’t bothered by the fact that they’ve only known each other for 2 years. Therefore, they’re not necessarily stronger than a couple dating for two years (or less, depending on the time between meeting and dating), let alone a couple dating for 3, 4, 5, etc. years, yet, you’ll constantly see obnoxious, ignorant, and extremely illogical “they should be married” comments.

Aren’t any threads on this site free from the marriage police?
