Practice makes perfect: Grant Show is a dad!

The Devious Maids star and his wife, Campaign actress Katherine LaNasa, welcomed a baby girl on Tuesday, March 25, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Daughter Eloise McCue Show was born at 5:21 p.m., weighing 6 lbs., 3 oz.

In August, the former Melrose Place star, 52, told PEOPLE they had babies on the brain.

“We are working on it – practice, practice, practice,” Show said. “We’re both older, so it’s a little difficult, but we’re working on it.”

While Eloise is their first child together, LaNasa, 47, is also mom to Henry Lee, 23, her son with Dennis Hopper.

After proposing to LaNasa in July 2012, the couple were married the following month in Topanga, Calif.

E! News was the first to report the birth.

Wow! When I first saw this I figured there was probably a surrogate involved because of Katherine’s age. Regardless, this is awesome news and I like the name a lot. Congrats to them!

TJ on

Great news! Love this couple!

Ris on

Congrats!

To the poster below: it was probably an egg surrogate

Cue the parental age police/Must have been a donor egg CIA agents in 3,2,1…

Brooke on

47??? That woman looks 27. Good for her.

Kris on

I did not know she was pregnant! I kind of think she kept it a secret due to all of the negativity on her age. However, she is indeed older and I think they probably had some help, donor eggs even. Older woman can give birth people, as long as you have a uterus, it’s just the eggs that are usually bad at that age.

Take it from someone who has had infertility treatment, it is almost impossible to get pregnant naturally at 47. Yes it happens but its usually rare and unplanned when it does. And old eggs usually result in unhealthy embryos and it is very difficult to have a good egg at that age.

Congrats to the lovely couple and it’s about time Grant Show became a dad!

People who say “it’s about time” so and so became a mom/dad crack me up. Do you really care that much?

I thought he had kids from a previous relationship/marriage…why wasn’t that mentioned?

Denise on

Congratulations love them both!!!!!

Big Fan on

No offense, I LOVE Grant, huge fan, but at 52, when the kid graduates High School, he’ll be 70?????? Ummmmmm, not good.

Marissa on

Uh … because he doesn’t? This is his first child.

Love the name Eloise.

Dulce Mae on

Congrats! Love the beautiful Normal name! But 52 and 47? When that baby is 20, her middle-aged parents will be 72 and 67 years OLD! How unfair to their daughter. Still I wish them all the blessings to experience with Eloise! Blessed Be!

Rhonda on

Congratulations to them!

Nicole on

I’m so happy for them! :)

She’s already had a baby, so it’s *possible* they conceived unscientifically :) A first baby at 47 would be pretty much impossible, but after you have your first, subsequent ones are easier to conceive even up to your mid-40s.

Either way, congrats to them.

Jackie on

I know I am off topic but doesn’t her last name sound like the Spanish bureau of nasa the space administration but anyway congrats to her her husband and brand new baby girl Eloise!!!

To those who think they are too old., none of us as we become parents know how long we have with our children.

The third of three children, my husband’s mother had him at 29. She died of breast cancer at age 44 when he was 15. HIs father died when my husband was in his early 30s before our children were born.

On the other hand, my parents are almost 90 and 92, living on their own, active, and doing well — a wonderful gift for me, my husband and our grown children. Having had my first child at 34 and second at 35, I hope to be as lucky as my parents.

Um that other child from another “relationship” was actually a marriage to Dennis Hopper.

Haven’t seen any of his show so don’t know about him, but congrats!

You shouldn’t just assume that someone had to use an egg donor because they’re 47. I had my first baby at 46 without any help. It can and does happen. When older women end up pregnant they often terminate the pregnancy because they feel they’re too old. But women in their 40s get pregnant everyday.

Don’t believe the misinformation out there. If you don’t have a preexisting fertility issue their is no reason you can’t have a baby in your mid to late 40s. Before birth control our great grandmother’s regularly had babies in their 40s; granted they did start young.

Congratulations to both of them.

Congrats to them!

To Lucia:

Point taken. The mother had her first at 23 so she fits your argument. Ageism exists!! I know, I am 59 and confront it in the workplace EVERYDAY!! By the way, I am an older mother with my first at 35 and my second at 39.5. Took a while because of my age. Would not recommend waiting….

Martina on

I have had two friends who got ‘surprise’ pregnancies with their 2nd babies after 45 y.o. It happens.

My mother had us starting at 20 years old. Fast forward, she passed away at 62. It really doesn’t matter when you think the right time is to have a baby. The fact remains we don’t know how long we have, so we might as well enjoy what we can with the time we have. Enjoy!

Aud on

That’s gonna be a gorgeous baby! And so what if the father will be in his 70s when the kid graduates high school? So was mine and it was still great!!

Kimberly on

Eloise is my father’s nickname for me….congrats!

Von on

At age 52 and 47? happy for them!
