Maleficent Kids Costumes? Thanks to Angelina Jolie and Stella McCartney, They’re Almost Here

We thought we were excited when the Maleficent trailer was released.

But consider us ecstatic after finding out that Disney, Stella McCartney and Angelina Jolie (of course!) collaborated on a kids costume collection inspired by the film, which hits theaters on May 30.

Aptly named after the movie, it will include eight styles including sparkly princess dresses (we’re loving the purple number to the left), bow-adorned sandals, dragon-print tees and cool sneakers for boys and girls aged 4 to 14.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Disney growing up, as was my mother, and I grew up watching all the films like most kids did,” McCartney told WWD.

“When the opportunity presented itself and I was invited by Angelina Jolie to visit the film set, I jumped at the chance.”

We’re sure glad she did. If it’s anything like the jewelry line McCartney designed for Tim Burton‘s Alice in Wonderland in 2010, then we’re already hooked.

Starting at the end of April, you’ll be able to buy the capsule collection, which will range from $75 to $145, at Stella McCartney Kids stores worldwide, as well as Disney stores and online.

We bet Jolie’s youngest daughter will be a fan. Vivienne, 5, plays a young Aurora in the movie.

I’ll bet the costumes are going to sell like hotcakes. Looking forward to see the movie!

I only wish they would have gone with someone a little more affordable , super cute though !

Very cute and original.

I’m sure that Disney will have a cheaper line out of similar items. This is for the Stella collection aimed at the designer savvy shopper who wants to spend more for a slightly more unique item.

I disagree Disney’s will be more affordable. The Princess costumes at Disney are above the price range listed for this, I see no reason why Maleficent wouldn’t be in the same range. There are cheaper Disney costumes, but they’re not actually released by the Disney line. I wish they’d include an adult’s one, I want my daughter to be Aurora while I’m Maleficent.

Ladies, you can easily make this costume with two yards of fabric, a spool of thread, and duck tape to form the head piece.

Prices $75 – $145 are not cheap for the age 4 – 14, kids could only wear them few times because they grow up so fast.

The prices are reflective of Stella McCartney Kid’s collection in high in end stores. No doubt, for ordinary folks, copies of originals will be able to be purchased in other stores at prices for less. Jolie typically donates monies raised from such projects for which she is a part. Wonder if she has a monetary stake in this one and if she’ll give to one of her (& Pitt’s) foundations.
